Katy Perry has run into trouble with the law over a music video she released over a year ago.

The American artist is back in headlines for all the wrong reasons, just months after making history by being aboard the Blue Origin flight, which had the first all-female crew on a spaceflight.

However, celebrities criticised the move and how it came across as ignorant to the environment. She did also kiss the Earth upon landing, which was perceived as a tad dramatic.

In all fairness, being blasted into space onboard a shuttle for a few minutes before landing back down on Earth while burning tons of rocket fuel isn't what you'd call environmentally-friendly.

Now, the 'Firework' singer is back in hot water after she was adjudged to have filmed a music video in a 'protected area' in Spain.

The music video for her 2024 single 'LIFETIMES' was released on 8 August 2024, but it seems the 40-year-old wasn't aware of the singificance of where she was shooting.

It was shot in the Ses Salines Natural Park on the Balearic Islands, Spain, and locals were less than pleased.

Perry is now being forced to pay a massive fine for filming in a protected area without getting the necessary permission.

The Balearic Islands government even revealed that an investigation is underway, though a fine of €6,001 (£5,197) has already been given to the production company behind the video, WeOwnTheCity, according to local outlet Majorca Daily Bulletin.

It's believed that the firm didn't have a granted permit from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and the Natural Environment to enter the restricted area.

A press release stated that 'in no case had the production company' asked for permission.

The natural park covers the south of Ibiza, and parts of the music video could be seen shot on dunes on the islet of S'Espalmador, which is located within the Unesco World Heritage nature reserve spanning Ibiza and Formentera.

As no major damage was done to the area, no further fines will follow, though the action was considered a 'serious' offence.

Perry can be seen cliff jumping in the video, while also dancing on a beach and partying and popular hotspots on the islands.

There are also a series of postcards in the video, which are filming locations from the islands, where the national park is located.

The single 'LIFETIMES' was the second single from the artist's sixth studio album, 143.
