"All of us were talking about it and wondering what had happened. We immediately feared it may be for him as he was known to be in fragile health," the unnamed resident said. "When we heard later that night that he had died it confirmed our worst fears."
A representative for Thames Valley Air Ambulance has since confirmed that a chopper was dispatched to the Osbourne home, telling MailOnline in a statement: "We can confirm that our helicopter was dispatched to provide advanced critical care at an incident near Chalfont St Giles yesterday."
Born John Michael Osbourne on 3 December 1948, the singer grew up in Birmingham and rose to fame as the frontman and founding member of Black Sabbath, alongside Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward.
Forming in 1968, the band rose to prominence in the 1970s with hits such as 'Paranoid', 'War Pigs' and 'Changes', going on to become one of the most important and influential heavy metal bands of all time.

Osbourne would also enjoy a hugely successful career as a solo musician, with hits such as 'Crazy Train' and 'Mama, I'm Coming Home'.
He later became known throughout the 2000s as a reality star, starring in family show The Osbournes alongside his wife Sharon and two of their three children, Kelly and Jack.
Ozzy tied the knot with Sharon on 4 July 1982 and remained together for 43 years. The rocker was previously married to Thelma Riley between 1971 and 1982.
They had two children together, Jessica and Louis, and Ozzy also adopted Riley's son, Elliot, from a previous relationship.
