Bryan Johnson lets girlfriend sleep in bed for three days as experiment and it goes exactly how you’d expect

It turns out Bryan Johnson may be human after all, as he's seemingly changed his mind on never spending the night with his girlfriend.

Biohacker Johnson has become a social media superstar thanks to his quest to 'live forever' and the extreme lengths he'll go to remain young, up to and including injecting his teenage son's blood into his body and making a 'clone' of himself.

Yet, love can lay waste to even the best laid plans and Johnson, 48, has apparently abandoned one of his less extreme health tenets in not sleeping with his 30-year-old partner, Kate Tolo.

Johnson, who was recently diagnosed with incurable stomach disease autoimmune gastritis, revealed in a lengthy post on X on 17 June that he had never slept next to Kate despite the pair announcing their relationship months earlier on 2 December, having been seeing each other for some time before going public.

"The only thing we do in bed is have sex," he wrote. "We have separate beds and homes."

However, Tolo - who is said to rank in the 'top one percent of all vaginas' - revealed on 11 August that they have finally slept together, challenging Johnson's scientific curiosity by framing it as an experiment.

"Bryan agreed to sleep with me for 3 nights as an experiment… as a reward for completing 100 days of my protocol," Tolo posted on social media, with her 'protocol' being her own anti-ageing process.

Naturally, the 'experiment' has now gone well beyond those initially proposed three days.

"I am on day 15," she added, with a winky face emoji.

Sleeping together isn't for everyone

Though a lot of Johnson's schemes seem frankly ridiculous, there is at least a fair amount of logic to not sleeping alongside your partner.

In his lengthy explanation back in June, Johnson pointed to several scientific studies suggesting that sleeping in the same bed as another person can have adverse effects. However, he admitted 'the science is split'.

He pointed towards a study that found one in five wake-ups in 55 couples over seven nights were triggered by a partner waking up first and another that suggested women may have worse sleep when sharing a bed than men.

However, there were studies that found benefits to sleeping in couples, too.

One survey of around 1,000 adults sharing a bed with a partner found the sleep tracked with less insomnia and fatigue, more sleep and better mental health than sleeping alone. Though Johnson took issue with the 'associative at best' data as it was self-reported.

But he also pointed towards: "Polysomnography, the gold standard for measuring sleep and sleep stages, points to REM gains with co-sleeping."

While another study suggested 'synced sleeping' tracks with lower blood pressure.

"It's interesting how sensitive a topic this is," Johnson replied to another X user who commented on his post. "People get offended and defensive. Like someone has committed a crime by bringing it up.

"So many couples could improve their relationship via better sleep but the topic is taboo."

Tolo, meanwhile, does believe Johnson will have worse sleep while sharing a bed with her, despite lasting so long after the experiment.

An X user said she'd be 'willing to bet that Kate will sleep way better when cosleeping, Bryan will sleep moderately worse'.

To which Tolo replied: "That’s my instinct too…

"Funny enough some science suggests women sleep worse next to their partner vs alone. But the science is really mixed… other studies show couples who share a bed sleep better.

"I’m excited to test it."

It's not the first time Johnson has forgone a strict health rule for Tolo, either, as he travelled to Australia to meet her parents in May, even though: "International travel increases aging.

"But I really love her so it’s worth the cost."

De-ageing his penis

While the thought of it may make you wince, Johnson has been putting his manhood through the wringer in the hopes of bringing back his '22-year-old penis'. From semen analysis and blood flow testing to Botox injections and shock wave therapy, he seems to have done it all.

The biohacker claimed to have been able to lower his 'erection age' by over half thanks to this long-winded ritual.

As well as keeping track of his own 'erection data', Johnson has also been controversially comparing the stats to his 19-year-old son's.

Injecting himself with his son’s blood

The biohacker went viral in 2023 after sharing that he'd come together with his then-17-year-old son and his 70-year-old father to take part in what he described as 'the world’s first multigenerational plasma exchange'.

The process saw Johnson have a litre of his blood removed and separated the plasma. He then had the same amount of his son's plasma infused into his veins.

However, after seeing 'no benefits', Johnson announced he was 'no longer injecting my son's blood'.

Instead, he said he 'upgraded' to 'total plasma exchange'.

Psychedelics

Last year, the biohacker documented his trip after taking 5g of magic mushrooms. Afterwards, he admitted he was 'happy to be alive', and the experience had 'changed' him, but 'probably not as you’d expect'.

Johnson also shared the effects of taking 27mg of the 'world’s most powerful' hallucinogenic, 5-MeO-DMT, which left him 'stunned beyond comprehension'.

Johnson recently shared an update on what he does each morning, noting that it takes four hours and 46 minutes.

"My morning routine is always evolving as we update protocols. This is what I'm experimenting with right now," he writes on his website.
