Viewers speak out against ‘icky’ ending of top film on Netflix Jailbreak: Love on the Run

Fans are shocked at the ending to Jailbreak: Love on The Run – one of the top films on Netflix right now.

The true crime documentary focuses on Vicky White, a correctional officer in Alabama who helped break a violent offender out of jail on the day she was set to retire.

White was engaging in a sexual affair with him, as the shocking Netflix documentary confirmed that the pair not only engaged in regular phone sex, which the documentary plays clips of, but that the two did have sex at the prison.

The man in question, Casey White (who is not related to Vicky), struck up a relationship with her while in prison for several felony charges, including attempted murder and robbery.

Casey was 38 at the time of the prison break, and his body is covered in tattoos – including many of white supremacist symbols.

There has been a large amount of criticism of the show centred around the portrayal of their relationship.

One side has been critical due to Vicky’s position of power as a prison guard, while others have claimed Casey ‘clearly’ influenced her to aid in his escape.

Many have come together, however, to slam the ending of the film.

One viewer tweeted: “Just finished watching #Jailbreak #LoveOnTheRun & it’s wild the ppl at the end speaking like it was some beautiful romantic love story, especially the inmates!

“Please, that lady got taken advantage of by a psycho. It was a sad situation all around.”

The film ends with various inmates speaking about the pair’s relationship, with one talking of their ‘inseparable love’ prior to recordings playing of Casey White describing his love for Vicky.

Another tweet said: “Umm the ending of #jailbreak #loveontherun with people talking about that man who tried to kill his ex-girlfriend (and did kill her dog) and the prison guard like they’re some great love story is real icky."

A second posted a gif of someone being disgusted, saying: “Me listening to the people at the end of #Jailbreak #LoveOnTheRun try to convince me this is some beautiful romantic love story:”

A third said: “Just watched jailbreak : love on the run. At the end of it her colleagues are saying 'every woman just wants to be loved' 'I'm proud of her' 'she gave him 11 days of freedom'.

“These people are insane and shouldn't be in charge of prisoners. Freed a murderer. Simple as that!”

While in prison, Casey had admitted to a murder unrelated to the charges he was behind bars for.

In real life, the story had a far less picture-book ending. Vicky shot herself after being caught by police, and Casey is spending life in prison for his crimes and escape.
