Viewers Left Stressed By The Ending Twist In Netflix's The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window

The spoof of the psychological thriller genre has received mixed reactions, and the same goes for the ending.

Aside from having a ridiculously long title, Netflix’s The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window has left viewers feeling stressed with the way it ended. You can watch the trailer here:

Don’t worry, we won’t run into any spoiler territory, but we will first take a look at what the show is all about.

Per the official synopsis: “For heartbroken Anna (Kristen Bell), every day is the same. She sits with her wine, staring out the window, watching life go by without her.

“But when a handsome neighbor (Tom Riley) and his adorable daughter (Samsara Yett) move in across the street, Anna starts to see a light at the end of the tunnel.

“That is until she witnesses a gruesome murder... Or did she?”

You may have noticed the premise appears to poke fun at recent psychological thrillers such as The Girl on the Train and the more recent The Woman in the Window, starring Amy Adams.

The spoof of this genre has received mixed reactions, and the same goes for the ending - don’t worry, I promise no spoilers.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: “The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window has THE most frustrating, left field, plucked right out of nowhere ending that left us just so stupified in so many ways.

“Loved it until the last ep. Seriously what?! Plus what a mouthful!”

Numerous people agreed, including this person who wrote: “Binge watched the show The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window on Netflix and it has got to be the worst ending to any show I have ever watched.

“LMAO this s**t is terrible.”

On the other side of the fence, another commenter said: “It's a fun parody of the distressed white woman psychological thriller genre. Kristen Bell's great in it.

“Has some good twists and a WILD unpredictable finale.”

A second viewer praised the finale, writing: “Binged watch this today and OH MY GOD! I would've never predicted the ending!!

“Loved it. Kept me interested since episode one.”

It’s not just the ending that’s polarised audiences. It seems like the series is a bit like Marmite - you either love it or hate it.

If you haven’t watched the show and you want to decide for yourself then you’re in luck, as the entire first season is available to watch on Netflix now.
