Viewers of the Amy Bradley Netflix documentary have made a major discovery after digging into the archives surrounding her disappearance.
The documentary, titled Amy Bradley is Missing, has brought the case of her Royal Caribbean cruise disappearance to a whole new generation of true crime fans.
Disappearing in 1998, Amy Bradley went missing on March 24, 1998, when she was just 23. 12 years later, on March 24, 2010, she was declared legally dead by abstentia.
The Netflix documentary has been incredibly popular amongst viewers, leading the investigation to return to the public eye.
One fan on Reddit, however, made a major discovery, posting on the r/NetflixDocumentaries subreddit.
They said: “Just came across this article from days after Amy Bradley went missing and there are some interesting things that were left out of the documentary.”
The poster shared that they had been searching ‘newspaper.com’, an archive of old newspaper clippings, to look at what the articles immediately covering Amy’s disappearance had said.
Per the Netflix documentary, Amy’s father, Ron Bradley, had last seen her in her room at 5.30am, roughly half an hour prior to the discovery at 6am of her missing from her room.
In the newly shared newspaper article, however, it states he had last seen her at 4.30am.
In addition to this, the article states that he had gotten dressed at 3am upon discovering that Amy and her brother Brad were still out drinking at a disco, bringing them back to their room.
This detail was not shared in the documentary.
Amy disappeared in 1998 (Netflix) The Reddit poster also shared another article from press coverage of the incident at the time claiming that the cruise ship from which she went missing was passing through a canal between 5:00am and 7.20am.
Whilst the article states the times were approximate, this makes it far harder to believe that her body would not have washed ashore.
One comment noted the bizarre difference in times, going on to say: “This is way different from the documentary???”
Another comment said: “Also, I don’t believe the documentary said the dad woke up and got them and brought them back to bed.
“Their timeline has switched up over the years, and not in a clarifying way, a confusing way.”
Internet sleuths noted the time differences (Netflix) The original poster stated that a large number of original articles they found revealed he had last seen her sleeping in her room at 4.30, a full hour's difference from the currently agreed timeline.
Whilst one comment noted that newspaper coverage of the event shouldn’t be taken as gospel, another documentary viewer replied saying: “For sure I just would think their timelines would be much fresher back then closer to when it actually happened.”
Amy Bradley is Missing is available to watch on Netflix now.
