Netflix has just added a Nicole Kidman thriller which has been dubbed a ‘mindf*ck’, ‘mind-bending’, and received praise for a crazy twist ending that left viewers shocked.

With all anyone can talk about recently with Kidman has been her performance in Babygirl, it’s easy to forget that she has been in so many classics over the years.

Whether that be Moulin Rouge, Eyes Wide Shut, or one of her more recent projects like Big Littles Lies, everyone has something they think of when they think Nicole Kidman.

Well, if you’re looking for another to add to that list, look no further than Before I Go to Sleep which was added to Netflix this week in the UK and Ireland.

Thriller Before I Go To Sleep stars Kidman alongside Colin Firth, Mark Strong, and Anne-Marie Duff, with Rowan Joffe directing.

The concept alone is heavily creepy: It follows Kidman as a woman called Christine who wakes up every day with no memories.

An amnesiac, she was attacked by someone - and only she knows who it was.

Firth plays her husband, Strong her distrustful doctor, and it is a twisty tense ride.

The film, undeniably, was not beloved by critics, but that has not stopped it finding a home amongst viewers who love.

It received a Rotten Tomatoes score of just 36% but has a score of 6.2 on IMDb, and some fans still love it.

A viral post on Twitter listed a thread of ‘psychological thrillers / mindf*ck movies’, of which Before I Go to Sleep was placed between The Prestige and Memento – esteemed company.

They said of the film: "Really good suspense movie with a plot twist. You’ll be on the edge of your seat the entire time. Not scary as the name would lead you to think."

The BBC gave the thriller a three star review, noting how the existence of Kidman’s character is a ‘mind-bending horror’.

Rachel Brook, a Rotten Tomatoes verified critic, said in their review: "A persistent score keeps emotions and tension running high while nebulous titles and grainy video footage evoke the faded and partial memories so crucial to the secret-ridden narrative."

Another said: "Before I go to Sleep is a solid psychological thriller which works on many levels.

"It is a taut, succinctly-told story that keeps you guessing throughout its concise running time, thanks in no small part to its three protagonists."

Andy Lea of the Daily Star said of the film: "This amnesia thriller is one of the most memorable films of the year."

While there is no way to even discuss the twist really without spoiling it, trust us, it’s good.

Before I Go to Sleep is available to stream on Netflix now.
