Netflix viewers threaten to cancel subscriptions after Bin Laden series is delayed and no reason given

The documentary about Osama Bin Laden had its release date come and go with no sign of the series

When it comes to Netflix, the cost of a subscription nowadays is so astronomically high that you couldn’t blame anyone for wanting to cancel it.

There was recently a change in price to the Premium subscription; previously, this included being allowed multiple households and advert-free viewing for £17.99, but it's now risen to £18.99 a month.

Fans this week have been furious however, not because of the rising price specifically, but because Netflix have seemingly opted to just not release a new documentary series about Osama Bin Laden, with no explanation given.

The three-part docu-series, titled American Manhunt: Osama Bin Laden, was slated to release March 10, yesterday.

The Netflix documentary was meant to focus on the operation to find Bin Laden that ultimately led to his assassination.

This came after the al-Qaeda co-founder took responsibility for the 9/11 attacks that saw the Twin Towers hit by two planes in 2001.

March 10 came and went however, and the documentary, at the time of writing, has not been put on Netflix.

And so far, Netflix have not responded to those questioning why this has happened, with outraged fans taking to social media.

One took to Twitter, saying: “So Netflix just doesn’t release American Manhunt Osama Bin Laden and doesn’t give a single reason as to why? That’s super lame dude.”

Another was genuinely furious in their tweet, saying: “I have canceled my Netflix subscription.

“This is the last time Netflix lies about releasing a show for me.

“American Manhunt Osama Bin Laden was supposes to be my binge show for the day."

A third said: “You know what I hate? When you pay for something and you don’t get what you pay for.

“Netflix has raised prices which has forced me to now downgrade and put up with ads.

“Yesterday, they were supposed to release a documentary on Osama Bin Laden, but it’s not on there.”

They followed this up by saying: “Not only was the documentary not released on the platform on the day they said it would be released, Netflix also hasn’t provided a new release date. Like wtf?”

The closest thing to a response from Netflix is a screenshot one fan shared in which they had asked the support chat why they had not released the show today as advertised.

The support worker simply replied saying that there was ‘not an immediate fix’ to the problem, with an irate viewer posting on Twitter: “thanks for canceling the premier of American Manhunts: Osama Bin Laden with ZERO notice or reasoning. Your support team is useless.”

LADbible group have contacted Netflix for comment.
