Stranger Things fans confused after character ‘completely disappears’ in season finale

Warning! This article contains spoilers for the final episode of Stranger Things!

Fans of Stranger Things are a little bit confused about the fate of a certain character who 'completely disappeared' during the grand finale with little explanation as to their whereabouts.

On one hand, it's a show where by the end the core cast had bloated to such a huge size that several major characters spent a lot of time with very little to do, but then that last episode was very long so many were hoping there'd be some kind of resolution to basically everything.

Here's the quick version of what happened on the Netflix show, so if you haven't seen the last Stranger Things episode yet and didn't stop at our previous spoiler warning this is your time to tap out.

Anyhow, our main characters do successfully manage to kill Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), Kali (Linnea Berthelsen) dies and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) stays behind in the Upside Down to sacrifices herself while everyone else is captured by the army.

Then we timeskip about 18 months and it seems nobody got in trouble for all the things they did and it's time for the oldest looking high school children to graduate.

While this is going on, the quartet of Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), Nancy (Natalia Dyer), Steve (Joe Keery) and Robin (Maya Hawke) meet up and promise to stay friends forever.

Only there's one person missing from this gathering who doesn't even show up after the timeskip - Robin's girlfriend Vickie (Amybeth McNulty).

Robin had a whole thing in the final season about trying to juggle dealing with the supernatural elements of Stranger Things and keeping her relationship going, which all came to a head in the hospital where she tried to explain the situation and got dismissed as a drug-addled lunatic.

Fortunately for Robin's relationship a bunch of supernatural beasties took that exact moment to attack the hospital and Vickie learned it was actually all real.

However, with her not showing up at the end of the episode fans have been confused as they complained a character the show had spent its final season developing just 'completely disappears' at the end.

One of the big questions from fans trying to piece it all together was: "Where is Vickie?"

Unfortunately there's not really a concrete answer for this because she does just disappear without a direct mention as fans wondered 'how did they just write off Vickie?' and wanted to know why she was 'completely missing'.

In their rooftop meetup Robin does mention 'overbearing partners', which plenty of fans took to be a reference to Vickie, though whether they're still together or they broke up isn't answered either.

Maybe this will be explained in another spin-off or stage play.
