Official Trailer Drops For Lord Of The Rings Amazon Series

Official Trailer Drops For Lord Of The Rings Amazon Series

The trailer for Amazon Prime's upcoming Lord of the Rings series, the Rings of Power, has landed.

The trailer for Amazon Prime's upcoming The Lord of the Rings series has just dropped and it looks epic. Take a look below:

Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will delve back into the Second Age of J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy world thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

The series looks set to track the creation of the mythical rings wielded by powerful individuals across Middle Earth.

The official trailer flies us through stunning vistas, delves us into the depths of glittering dwarven holds filled with untold riches and brings us a view of fields tilled by happy hobbits.

All seems idyllic at first, but grim portents of conflict and strife promise to upset the status quo and throw everything into turmoil, and that means plenty of stunning battles for us to enjoy.

Characters audiences will already be familiar with are Elven queen Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), Elrond (Robert Aramayo) and Isildur (Maxim Baldry).

Meanwhile, there will be plenty of faces new to those who know Middle Earth only through Peter Jackson's movies, yet will be more familiar with those fans who know more of Tolkien's writings.

The series promises to take us through the forging of the titular rings of power, with three forged for the elven kings, seven for the dwarf lords in their halls of stone and nine for the mortal men doomed to die.

As for the dark lord on his dark on his dark throne, The Rings of Power will also track Sauron's rise to prominence and portray the climactic Last Alliance of Elves and Men assembled to overthrow him.

These events took place over the course of thousands of years in Tolkien's history, though they are being condensed to fit it all in the series.

Amazon have reportedly sunk over $1 billion into the series, which will serve as a spiritual prequel to Jackson's films.

A teaser trailer for The Rings of Power was released earlier this year, tantalising fans with the prospect of more content in Middle Earth.

We've also been given our first look at the show's orcs, with stills of the monstrous minions of evil giving us another wonderful glimpse into what Amazon hopes will be the next juggernaut fantasy show.

The show is already planned to run for five seasons so it can cover all of the various interwoven storylines that Tolkien included in his writings.

Here's hoping the show lives up to expectations because when it comes to fantasy there really is nothing like Lord of the Rings.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will release on Amazon Prime on 2 September.
