Roger Moore’s son believes only a man should play James Bond on screen.

Who will play the legendary British spy next in the franchise has been a hot topic since Daniel Craig announced he would be stepping down from the iconic role after No Time To Die.

And now, Jaffa Moore has weighed in.

Jaffa, whose father played 007 in numerous films, including A View To Kill and Live And Let Die, was asked if the role should ever be handed down to a woman.

To which he told Express: “Well, then it’s no longer James Bond,”

“I mean, she could be 006, 008, or 009…”

And while Lashana Lynch was already given the infamous codename in No Time To Die, Jaffa still thinks it led to ‘confusion’ amongst audiences.

“In the last Bond I think this was the confusion. That she [Lashana’s character Nomi] was 007 and then said, ‘I’ve got to give it back to Bond. It’s his number,” he said.

However, Jaffa suggested filmmakers could create a ‘Jane or Jemima Bond’ character for women.

It’s just like in 1900 when women were finally granted permission to vote; so generous, thank you!

When asked about more women appearing in action films, he added: “If you look at Charlize Theron in Atomic Blonde… I mean, women can certainly pull it off and certainly do the fight sequences.”

But just don’t give Theron a 007 swipe card at MI6; otherwise, Jaffa will lose his mind.

Back in 2021, Daniel Craig was also asked his thoughts on a female bond character.

While speaking to Radio Times, he said: “The answer to that is very simple. There should simply be better parts for women and actors of colour.

“Why should a woman play James Bond when there should be a part just as good as James Bond, but for a woman?”

His answer also echoes the sentiments of producer Barbara Broccoli, who gave the following statement on Good Morning Britain back in 2019: “We have to make movies about women and women’s stories but we have to create female characters and not just for a gimmick turn a male character into a woman.”

Many rumours have also been swirling of who will hold that martini glass next, with Lashana Lynch, Taron Egerton, and Tom Holland’s name being thrown into the ring.

Only time will tell which direction the franchise will go.
