Roman Kemp has hilarious reaction to parents being unveiled on The Masked Singer

The Capital Breakfast DJ had no clue his parents were taking part in the show

Roman Kemp had a hilarious reaction after his parents were unveiled on the Masked Singer.

Dad Martin and mum Shirlie appeared on the popular ITV show as Cat and Dog and were unmasked last night - much to the surprise of their son. Check out his reaction here:

For those unfamiliar with the show, a celebrity is hidden away inside an elaborate costume and performs over several weeks.

Clues to their true identity are dropped in throughout and the panel - made up of Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan - take guesses at who they believe is behind the mask.

Secrecy is key and previous participants have revealed they didn’t tell anyone they were appearing on the show - not even their closest friends and family.

And that certainly seems to be the case here, with Roman completely in the dark about his parents’ appearance on the show.

Cat and Mouse were revealed to be Martin and Shirlie Kemp.

In an hilarious clip shared on TikTok, a confused-looking Roman asked: “Someone please explain what is going on?” as Cat and Dog removed their masks to reveal their real faces.

Fans of the Capital Breakfast DJ thought his response to seeing his parents on the show was hilarious, with one person writing: “This is the best reaction I’ve seen.”

Another said: “Priceless the look on your face!”

A third added: “This is the best thing EVER. Can’t wait to hear all about this Monday morning.”

While some else asked: “Is this 100% total pride???…….or have you turned yourself inside out through cringing!?”

Speaking on the show, Martin and Shirlie revealed Roman had no clue they were competing on the show, with Shirlie telling Joel Dommett: “No this is going to embarrass him. Most people say they are doing it for their kids."

Martin added: "We're doing it to embarrass them." Well, it seems like mission accomplished, guys.

Meanwhile, over on Twitter, Roman couldn’t resist having another gentle dig at his mum - sharing a snap of her from the show, he wrote: “My mum: I’ve no interest in being famous anymore. Also my mum:”.

In a post from her own Twitter account, mum Shirlie revealed jow they managed to get away with it, writing: “And to think, our kids thought we were on a romantic getaway…” Genius.

In an interview after they were unmasked, both parents admitted to feeling very nervous to take part.

Shirlie revealed: "I've never done anything so nerve wracking in my life."

And Martin added: “I was more nervous. I could literally hear my heart in my ears.”
