Rufus Wainwright is an American-Canadian singer-songwriter and composer who is notorious for skyrocketing to fame at an early age.
Wainwright was only a fourteen year-old when he wrote the song ‘I’m Runnin’’, a track which fetched him Juno and Genie Award nominations.
After gaining so much success from the song , he went on to study classical and modern piano at McGill University, but he quit college in order to go back to pursuing a music career,a decision that definitely turned out to be a wise one.
In 1998 the 48 year-old he released his debut album entitled ‘Rufus Wainwright’ which rose to critical acclaim in Canada, the country which he was raised in for many years.

His follow up album, ‘Poses’, came 3 years later in 2001 and he then proceeded to release 8 more albums up until the year 2012.
Wainwright’s excellent composing and writing earned him a Best New Artist nomination by the Rolling Stone magazine.
In addition to his own original compositions, Wainwright has both written and performed songs for movies like Moulin Rouge (2001), the Shrek instalments, I am Sam (2001) and Brokeback Mountain (2005), among others.
