Glastonbury 2025 was a resounding success, with hundreds of thousands of people tuning in from home or choosing to head to Somerset’s pastures to boogie the weekend away.
However, there’s something you need to know about next year- it’s just not happening.
Even though massive musical names played this year, such as Olivia Rodrigo, Charli XCX, Rod Stewart, The 1975 and more, every now and then, Glasto takes a year off from the renowned event.

Ever since it began, the festival has drawn in droves of people who are looking to camp out at Worthy Farm and listen to their favourite artists live.
But there’s a strict rule that organisers stick to, and it’s not a compromise.
Organisers have said Glasto will take a year off in 2026, and there’s a very good reason for it.

The festival is known for taking planned breaks every five years, known as a fallow year.
In 2024, the event’s co-organiser, Emily Eavis, explained what this meant for planning this year’s festival.
She told The Sun: "The festival before a fallow year is always a fun one to plan, because you almost have to fit two years into one.
"We’re already in talks with some acts for it. It’s exciting!"
A fallow year is a year of rest for the land, and Glasto typically plans one every four to five years.

The last official fallow year was in 2018; however, the festival was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
As per the BBC, Eavis said: "The fallow year is important because it gives the land a rest, it gives the cows a chance to be out for longer and reclaim their land.
"It honestly restores your faith in humanity."
Essentially, it’s to give the land some breathing room in-between the decade.
The co-organiser also told BBC's Sidetracked podcast: "It gives everyone time to switch off. And I think it's quite good not to be seen to be cashing in. At the best time when we could just rake it all in, to go 'no' is so important - that ethos - now more than ever.

"Sometimes you just need to calm it all down and come back with a renewed excitement and enthusiasm."
Good news for those who haven’t been to Glastonbury yet but are desperate to go.
While we don’t know much about the plans for Glastonbury 2027, there have been no reports about it being called off.

Tickets usually go live in October or November time, with resales opening in April.
Once the land has had some time to chill out and breathe, it’ll be back to normal and you can party the weekend away with your mates while listening to some good tunes.
