Stranger Things Is Breaking Netflix Records

Netflix has revealed records are being broken by hit sci-fi horror series Stranger Things.

Netflix has revealed records are being broken by hit sci-fi horror series Stranger Things.

Fans of the show have been waiting over two years for the latest season, so it'll come as no surprise that many eagerly counted down the days until Friday, 27 May to swiftly switch on their television, rapidly draw their blinds and not leave the sofa all weekend.

Netflix has revealed that Stranger Things 4 - Volume 1 has broken records.

Since the latest season's release, Stranger Things 4 - Volume 1 has not only boosted a classic 1985 track all the way to the top of iTunes charts, but it's also smashed some viewing records, even overtaking another popular Netflix hit in the race to the most amount of hours viewed.

In March, after its release on the 25th, the second season of Bridgerton saw the number of hours viewed of the show reach 193 million.

However, Netflix has revealed Stranger Things - Volume 1 has seen 286.79 million hours viewed so far.

The production company and streaming platform also noted the season has been the first ever to reach number one in a whopping 83 countries.

In all 93 countries that Netflix tracks, the season made the top 10.

Stranger Things' success is sure to be warmly welcomed by Netflix after the company took a hit back in April.

In just 24 hours, Netflix lost $50 billion in value off of its market cap after reporting its first loss of subscribers in 10 years.

Bigger losses were even reported as being anticipated in the second quarter of the year.

While the latest instalment of the creepy sci-fi show has likely put smiles on the faces of Netflix bosses, viewers have been left utterly petrified.

So much so, some people have even threatened to throw away their grandfather clocks due to being so haunted by the eerie tick-tocking which ebbs into many episodes.

Perhaps even more horrifying is the sex toy which has been made, inspired by The Demogorgan.

Or Joe Keery's recent revelation about the effort - or lack of - he goes to in order to maintain his lustrous locks.

Stranger Things 4 - Volume 1 is available to watch on Netflix now. However, you'll have to wait until 1 July for the second instalment.

My advice? Don't binge-watch it all in a single day (although, impressive, I know). Space it out so the wait isn't quite so painful.
