Taylor Swift’s cat Olivia is the world’s third richest pet with a net worth of $97 million

She has a literal fortune lining her litter-box.

Olivia Benson is sitting close to the top of the pops, coming in at number three on a recent rich list.

No, not the fictional character from Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

We're talking about Taylor Swift's cat, who has won the bronze medal on All About Cats' pet rich list.

The site claims the feline has a net worth of USD$97 million (AUD$145 million, £80 million)

All About Cats said: "At the number three spot is Olivia Benson, the best friend and companion of artist Taylor Swift, who asks the question: is Instagram celebrity really the most profitable profession for your pet?"

"The Scottish Fold earned her fortune starring alongside her owner in several music videos, has crafted her own merchandise line, and has had cameos in many big-budget ads, including for the likes of Diet Coke and Ned Sneakers," they added in their statement.

Well, there you go.

So, unless you're some sort of loaded bigwig (and if you are, can I borrow a hundy or two), you can sleep well tonight knowing there is not only a cat but actually loads of pets that are far wealthier than you.

The world's richest animal is a German shepherd known as Gunther VI, owned by the Gunther Corporation.

Gunther Corporation also manages the dog’s estate and fortune through real estate investments, which have boosted the USD$80 million (AUD$119 million, £66 million) inheritance received by Gunther’s grandfather’s in 1992 to a staggering USD$500 million (AUD$749 million, £414 million).

The runner-up on the list was premium cat food owner, Nala Cat, with a net worth of USD$100 million (AUD$146 million, £83 million).

The list looked at the most wealthy and influential pets, using Instagram analytics to form their rankings as many of the financially sound furry friends are making money thanks to their social media fame.

"By analysing the Instagrams of pets with the most followers, likes, and engagement rates, we discovered the top 50 most influential pets," All About Cats said in their statement.

"We also wanted to see just how much these animals could make for their loving owners.

"Using Instagram data we estimated how much each of these pets could make per Instagram post to discover who among them were the highest earners, and how much the most influential cats could pull in per post."

It clearly pays to be paw-fect.

At number four are Oprah Winfrey's dogs Sadie, Sunny, Lauren, Layla, and Luke.

The dogs have their own trust fund and as a collective are set to inherit $30 million (AUD$44 million, £25 million) when the TV great passes on.

At number five is our first furry influencer, Jiffpom, with a USD$25 million (AUD$37 million, £21 million) net worth.

Jiffpom is the adorable Pomeranian pupper who looks more like a teddy bear than dog, so excuse us while we forget how ruff it is that he's richer than us.

He's just too cute for words.
