Grinch viewer calls out huge mistake in festive film

Grinch viewer calls out huge mistake in festive film

We never noticed this.

It's not Christmas until you've settled down to watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas at least once.

But one fan of the film has pointed out a 'mistake' in the much-loved movie - and fans can't believe they didn't spot it earlier.

You can see it below:

TikToker @redcobweb shared the clip, explaining the mistake always catches their eye, whenever they watch the film.

Explaining that it seemed either the make-up or editing team had made an error, the TikToker revealed that the Grinch's eyes actually change colour in one scene.

"Every time I watch the Grinch I notice this one little mistake they made whether they forgot to either put his contacts in or to edit them in afterwards,” they explained.

“So just Jim Carrey’s brown eyes are just there. And in the next scene, they’re back to that.”

And fans of the movie were blown away by the revelation, with many admitting to having never noticed the blunder.

One person wrote: "I JUST SCREAMED I NEVER SAW THIS AHAHAH."

While another said: "I've watched the Grinch so many times and never noticed this."

And a third added: "I fixated on this movie as a kid, I can't believe I never notice that until now haha."

Meanwhile a fourth commented: "Honestly he looks fine with normal eyes, might have made things easier on Jim Carrey."

It turns out that Jim Carrey actually had to be trained by the CIA during filming, due to the costume process being so gruelling.

Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, Carrey explained that the make-up element of becoming The Grinch was like being 'buried alive'.

Explaining how it came about, Carrey revealed he had been struggling with the make-up required to transform into The Grinch.

"The first day was eight and a half hours and I went back to my trailer and put my leg through the wall and I told Ron Howard I couldn't do the movie," said Carrey.

"Then Brian Grazer came in, being the fix-it man, and came up with a brilliant idea to hire a gentleman trained to teach CIA operatives how to endure torture.

"And that's how I got through The Grinch."

He explained the advice given by the CIA expert was to 'eat everything you see - if you’re freaking out and you start to spiral downwards, turn the television on, change a pattern, have someone you know come up and smack you in the head, punch yourself in the leg or smoke as much as you possibly can'.
