Danny Trejo has earned himself a reputation as one of Hollywood's biggest badasses, both on and off screen.

And while his characters - particularly his titular role in the Machete films - are known for being ruthless killers, he's also been killed off more times than most actors could hope to land a film role.

Breaking the record for most movie deaths on screen and toppling Christopher Lee for the title, Danny's movie characters have died a whopping 65 times.

When you consider the Machete star has featured in around 135 movies, that's quite a sizeable chunk in which he snuffs it - although not all that surprising when his bread and butter is B-movies.

The statistic was revealed in a new 'Movie Mortality' infographic from Buzz Bingo, which ranked the top ten actors by total number of on-screen deaths.

The site states: "Some actors are an unfortunate magnet for on-screen deaths, while others have the bad luck of appearing in particularly deadly flicks.

"We used cinemorgue and IMDb to find out which actors are the most prone to dying on-screen, and which movies and years across cinematic history are the deadliest."

A close runner-up, Dracula and Lord of the Rings star Christopher Lee has starred in 60 roles in which his character was killed off.

In third place is Aliens' Lance Henrikson with 51 deaths, followed by Hollywood heavyweights Vincent Price and Dennis Hopper, both racking up a total of 41 each.

Considering Danny Trejo has only really made a name for himself as an A-lister in the past decade, that's quite the achievement.

If you'd like to relive some of his famous movie deaths, check out any one of the following flicks: Death Wish IV, Desperado, From Dusk Till Dawn, Anaconda, Halloween (2007), Zombie Hunter, 3 from Hell, 3-Headed Shark Attack and the ironically titled Bulletproof.

Elsewhere on the infographic, it was found that fortune favours the female, as a whopping three quarters (75.9%) of the on-screen deaths recorded befell male actors.

Of the most unlucky actresses, Shelley Winters of Lolita fame took top spot with a total of 20 silver screen demises.

Although Trejo might have landed the most deaths, in terms of who is most likely to die in a movie now, Game of Thrones' Kit Harington ties with Merritt Butrick (Star Trek) in first place, with both having a 62.5 percent chance of dying in any flick they appear in.

Meanwhile, The Virgin Suicides star A. J. Cook is the most luckless actress, landing a 50 percent chance of meeting her demise in a film.
