Joanna Page has been drumming up excitement ahead of the Gavin & Stacey Christmas special, having hinted that we may just find out what happened on Bryn and Jason's mysterious fishing trip once and for all.

The trip has become a long-running joke throughout the programme, regularly referenced in hushed tones by the uncle and his nephew.

While we never found out exactly what went on during the sitcom's original three series, we were thrown small nuggets of information... like the fact that it was because they were 'cold', and that it involved soup, but that it's legal in Wales?

But despite many fans' theories knocking about, we've never known for sure - until now potentially, as Page has promised us 'a little conversation about the fishing trip' in the Christmas Day special.

Page, who will reprise her role as Stacey, appeared on This Morning today to chat about the reunion and was asked by host Ruth Langsford: "Will we find out what happened on the fishing trip?"

Initially not giving much away, Page replied: "Well... you'll just have to wait and see but there's lots of old things and lots of exciting new things as well."

She continued: "It's sort of like everything you wanted and you love about it and lots of new and interesting things as well.

"But I'd tune in because there might just be a little conversation about the fishing trip."

INTERESTING.

The new episode penned by co-creators Ruth Jones and James Corden, who said in a joint statement when it was announced: "Over the last ten years we've talked a lot about Gavin and Stacey - where they might be today and what their lives might look like.

Will all be revealed at Christmas?

"And so in secret we took the plunge and wrote this one-hour special. We've loved revisiting Barry and Essex again and bringing the characters back together has been a joy.

"We're so excited to get the chance to work with our fabulous cast and crew once more and to give fans of the show a festive treat this Christmas. Thank you BBC for helping to make this happen."

The Gavin & Stacey Christmas special will air at 8.30pm on BBC One on 25 December.
