James Gunn has revealed that he thinks a DC-Marvel crossover movie could happen.
In news that will most likely be music to the ears of superhero film fans, the Guardians of the Galaxy and Suicide Squad filmmaker opened up about the possibility in a Q&A session on Instagram stories.
When asked by a follower if a 'DC vs Marvel' movie could happen, he replied: "In the past I would have said no way. But today I think anything is possible."
So there you have it, straight from the horse's mouth - with the possibility of characters from the rival comic publishers taking each other on, we could see a whole new world opening up for the superhero characters we all know and love.

Gunn will be working with Warner Brothers on the DC movie The Suicide Squad - also known as 'Suicide Squad 2', following the first movie in 2016 - with a release date currently set for 6 August 2021.
We're not lucky enough to have a release date or prospective plot details for the third instalment of Guardians of the Galaxy just yet, but production won't begin until Gunn has finished up with The Suicide Squad.
As usual though, fans have been theorising online, with many expecting Mantis, Star-Lord, Groot, Rocket and Drax to be coping with the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame.
It's also unclear whether Thor will appear in the movie, but some fans are expecting him to show up.

Gunn was reinstated as director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 after he was fired last year when a string of offensive tweets were dug up.
A couple of months back, however, he confirmed he'll direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, adding that it will be his last involvement with the franchise.
After posting an image of the Marvel directors' round table from Infinity War, he was inundated with comments and questions

One fan asked: "How many GoG movies are you ready to direct?"
He answered: "One more."
Straight to the point there, James.
Another fan asked when the next Guardians movie might be released, to which he replied: "After The Suicide Squad."

When that's all done and dusted, will we see DC characters like Batman and Wonder Woman taking on Marvel heroes such as Captain Marvel and Spider-Man? Guess we'll have to wait and see.
