Applications Are Now Open For The Next Season Of The Amazing Race Australia

A new-look version of adventure gameshow The Amazing Race Australia has been announced and producers are looking for applicants.

The series usually pits several couples against each other as they race across the planet, encountering terrifying challenges and dealing with local customs, all in the hope of winning $250,000.

Sadly, because coronavirus has made it impossible for anyone to hop around the world, producers have mixed things up a bit.

The next season will push competitors to travel all around Australia (in places that are open to travellers) and will still have the same prize.

Channel 10 has put out a call for new applicants after initially publishing the applications in December last year.

Ten's chief sales officer Rod Prosser said it will be a great way to showcase what we have in our beautiful country.

He added: "This will be a welcome boost for local companies and the Australian tourism industry as the opportunities to integrate across a series which will explore some of the best places and products Australia has to offer will be made easier than ever."

The network has issued this pitch to potential applicants: Will our teams scale the Sydney Harbour Bridge? Forage through Kakadu National Park? Count all the churches in Adelaide?

Sounds like it will be wild.

There's not a single person I know that hasn't said they would be incredible in The Amazing Race, but naturally only a few spots will be available.

You have to be over the age of 18 to enter and the application is littered with questions about you as an individual, as well as your partner. Whether you're best mates, colleagues, in a relationship or just two people who reckon they would be fun to watch on the telly, it doesn't matter.

As long as you can grab the attention of the casting agents then you've got a shot at being on the show.

Host Beau Ryan will be back for this latest season and he has some advice for applicants.

"The experience will change you and your teammate's life forever. If you're looking to travel off the beaten path, all while having a crack at the massive prize, then give it a shot," he said.
