Viewers tuning into The 1% Club Christmas special were shocked after a staggering amount of contestants were caught out by a relatively straightforward question.

Hosted by actor and comedian Lee Mack, the ITV gameshow sees contestants put their logic and reasoning skills to the test as they try and answer a series of questions which have nothing to do with general knowledge or obscure facts.

The prize on offer for anyone who's able to leverage their brainpower and make it to the end? A share of the £100,000 prize pot.

Questions are classified by the number of participants in a test audience who were able to answer correctly, with a lower percentage meaning less people got the question right. Following this line of thinking, the questions asked earlier on in the episode should be more straightforward.

However, this isn't always the case.

In last night's Christmas special Mack was joined by 100 contestants dressed up in their finest festive jumpers for the occasion - however the Christmas theme appeared to stump several participants, as they were caught out by a question early on in the game.

For the second question of the episode contestants were presented with two near identical images of an animated Christmas scene and asked to spot the difference between the two.

Pretty straightforward right? Take a look at the question below and see if you're able to find the correct answer.

Now the answer is seemingly pretty obvious, right? Clearly not for everyone, as a whopping 28 contestants were unable to spot the difference and therefore eliminated.

Truly a dark moment in The 1% Club history.

"Wow," was Mack's response after seeing the number of participants eliminated so early on, before going on to reveal that only the image on the left depicted Santa Claus with a pair of legs.

Viewers at home were also baffled by the number of people unable to spot the difference, with one person commenting on social media: "What on earth were those 28 people looking at?"

"28 people getting the second question wrong!" a second person wrote alongside a gif saying 'Go feel shame', while a third added: "28 people. Wow."

The 28 souls who struggled to spot the difference shouldn't feel too embarrassed however, as one contestant struggled to even make it past the first question, which involved counting the number of elf hats and reindeer antlers on the screen.

Revealing the unlucky contestant to be a bloke named Colin, Mack asked the man for the logic behind his answer, to which he answered: "I don't know what to say, I am embarrassed.

"I can't believe I've done this on telly."
