Amazon breaks silence on Clarkson's Farm future following reports show has been axed

Amazon has been speaking about the future of Clarkson's Farm following reports earlier this year it was set to be axed.

Amazon have finally broke its silence on the future of Clarkson's Farm and the news is not exactly what you might expect.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Jeremy Clarkson was likely to be axed by Amazon after comments he made about Meghan Markle.

In a column for The Sun newspaper in December, Clarkson penned some rather controversial opinions, including that he 'hated' Markle on a 'cellular level'.

Speaking about Prince Harry, he wrote: "I actually feel rather sorry for him because today he’s just a glove puppet with no more control over what he says or does than Basil Brush.

"Meghan, though, is a different story. I hate her.

"Not like I hate Nicola Sturgeon or Rose West. I hate her on a cellular level."

He continued: "At night, I’m unable to sleep as I lie there, grinding my teeth and dreaming of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, 'Shame!' and throw lumps of excrement at her."

Clarkson later apologised for his comments, though a report by Variety earlier this year confirmed Clarkson was set to be axed by the streaming giant regardless.

The Sun also issued an apology for publishing the column, subsequently deleting it online.

Amazon is yet to officially confirm if Clarkson will continue with them post season three of Clarkson's Farm - something that was agreed prior to the column being published.

And the company's stance has still not changed publicly to this day. Prime UK’s head of originals, Dan Grabiner, confirmed that 'no decisions' had been made at the Edinburgh TV Festival on Thursday, as per Deadline.

"It’s a very complex topic but we are not interrupting production of the current season," he said.

"I can’t tell you what a phenomenon this show is and the impact it’s had on the agricultural community.

"We get messages from farmers around the world who just love the show, saying they’ve never really seen their world reflected properly on screen before. It’s a hell of a lot bigger than Jeremy Clarkson."

Head of UK unscripted at Amazon, Fozia Khan, added that the company were left 'shocked and disappointed' by the column.

She added: "There are lots of discussions going on but the thing that’s important to say is there is so much more going on to the show than Clarkson."
