Celebrity Traitors release date confirmed after Richard Osman's false leak

The BBC have confirmed the release date for the second season of Celebrity Traitors just a week after Richard Osman revealed that he had insider information the show would be releasing next week.

Celebrity Traitors season one was a huge success for the BBC, with Alan Carr's win over Nick Mohammed, David Olusoga, Cat Burns, and Joe Marler in the final widely considered the greatest TV moment of the 2025.

Season two is returning with a blockbuster cast including Bella Ramsay, Joe Lycett, James Acaster, Richard E Grant, Maya Jama, Michael Sheen, Miranda Hart, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock.

There has been a fair amount of debate online as the BBC regularly will announce the release dates for Traitors quite close to the actual date of the premiere.

This was confused even further when Osman claimed that the show was set to released 23 September in a live recording of The Rest Is Entertainment podcast

Osman spoke out on Instagram shortly after the news went viral, as the date he put forward has now been confirmed to be wrong.

Osman denied on Instagram that he knew the date, saying in a post about the event: "We had the BEST time at the #TheRestIsEntertainment live show at the Royal Festival Hall last night.

“Thank you to the incredible crowd, it was such a treat for us. And, contrary to newspaper reports, we didn’t ACTUALLY reveal the launch date for the new Celeb Traitors, mainly because WE DON’T KNOW IT.”

He admitted on The Rest Is Entertainment that the release date reveal was a 'joke', repeating that him and co-host Marina Hyde 'don't know'. Hyde explained: "I don't know when it is, and I don't even think it is then by the way. No embargo has been broken."

Osman added: "We're in all the papers. So we did a joke about the release date of Celebrity Traitors and they've said they've 'accidentally let it slip', which we didn't because we don't know when."

The release date has now been confirmed by the BBC as 1 October, meaning we have just over two weeks until the iconic show is back on screen.
