Jon Bernthal has joined the cast of Christopher Nolan's highly anticipated adaptation of the classic Greek work of literature The Odyssey.

Deadline reports that Bernthal is joining existing cast members Tom Holland, Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, and Charlize Theron.

It's not confirmed what role Bernthal is going to take on in the production but there's plenty of parts to play in The Odyssey.

Among the star-studded cast, Deadline says that Tom Holland is going to play the lead role which one would assume is Odysseus himself unless the film decides to show the story from a perspective other than that of the King of Ithaca.

The plan is for Christopher Nolan's take on The Odyssey to release in cinemas on 17 July, 2026, which sounds like a long way off but really isn't now we've entered 2025.

For those unfamiliar with the plot of The Odyssey, it follows Odysseus on his journey home from the Trojan Wars where he and his crew have to navigate all manner of hazards including a monstrous cyclops, treacherous sirens and tricksome witches.
