Realistic trailer for Friends movie is the closest we ever got to the real thing

Realistic trailer for Friends movie is the closest we ever got to the real thing

We never did get a Friends movie, so this mocked up trailer is the next best thing

From time to time when sitcoms end they cap things off with a movie or two to cash in on the show's popularity and give themselves more time to tie up loose ends.

Of course, in the case of some shows there never was a movie and there never will be, so the best people can do is dream of what it might have been like.

Friends, one of the most popular sitcoms of all time, packed in 10 seasons in as many years, pulling in over 52 million viewers for the final episode in 2004.

The best fans could hope for was a spin-off in the form of Joey, which was cancelled after two seasons after falling ratings.

All that was left for Friends fans was a reunion a couple of years ago, which some viewers thought didn't really do the show justice.

Lisa Kudrow said she and Courteney Cox had watched the trailer.

There'll never be a Friends movie so the best people can hope for is watching a mocked-up trailer which looks realistic enough to be advertising the real thing.

It's made by the same folks who put together a decently convincing promo for a potential Home Alone sequel, though of course you shouldn't expect to see that movie any time soon either.

The trailer was convincing enough that Lisa Kudrow commented on it after it released in 2014.

She said: "No, Courteney actually was the one who said 'did you see that trailer, oh my God what do we do?'.

"Like, nothing that's just a clip. It's clips from other, like a lot of Cougar Town.

"I don't know what to make of it, it's just these weird clips from things that clearly have nothing to do with Friends.

"Something should be done, I don't know what. They're rebooting everything but I don't know how does that work with Friends? That was about people in their 20s, 30s, the show wasn't about people in their 40s and 50s."

Friends fans had a reunion but many wanted more.

Kudrow went on to say it would have been 'sad' if they had done a Friends movie and all of the characters were still facing the same problems.

The same YouTubers also created a trailer for Titanic 2, though that film has already been made and it's absolutely terrible.

Instead of the ship hitting an iceberg, this time a tsunami results in an iceberg hitting the ship which is absolutely not worth your time.

Plenty who saw the fake trailer said they only wished it was a real thing so they could have had one more dollop of Friends.

Others admitted they'd been duped by the trailer at first and allowed themselves to believe it was real.
