New year, new Harlan Coben.
Yep, after spending the past few Januarys hooked on the Netflix series, a new adaptation has entered the ring: Run Away.
Following the likes of Fool Me Once and Missing You, this one’s honestly pretty wild with a whole load of twists and turns and a nicely stacked cast including the likes of James Nesbitt, Ruth Jones and Minnie Driver.

But with all of the action and craziness over the eight episodes, some viewers have been left with questions following the mega final plot twist.
With a few overlapping plot lines (and I’ll be honest, it can get a bit confusing), it isn’t totally surprising that Netflix viewers have been left scratching their heads.
The biggest confusion of all though, is over just what happened to Henry as a somewhat hidden detail may help explain things.
Who is Henry and why does it matter?
So, first of all, let’s have a reminder of who Henry actually is and why this all matters.
Basically, the first reason why private investigator Elena (Jones) is even involved is because she is hired to locate the missing lad. But as the stories begin to overlap, it becomes clear that Henry is one of the adopted children, a brother to the other boys who have been murdered.
We soon understand that Dee Dee (Maeve Courtier-Lilley) has been entrusted with handling these killings by the leader of her cult, the Shining Truth.
That’s because he, Casper (Ken Bones), is dying and wants to wipe out the children he fathered over the decades (that he put up for adoption while telling the mothers they were stillborn). And he plans to make sure only his ‘divine’ sons will take over the cult and inherit his millions.

Fans’ confusion
Essentially, Henry turns out to be one of the sons with a hit on his name, only we never actually see him die – for all we know, he is still missing.
“Just finished watching Run Away on Netflix, can anyone tell me what happened to Henry the one the PI was looking for? Have they just forgotten about him?” one viewer asked on X.
“Where is Henry?” another asked, as others echoed: “Where the hell is Henry?”
“So I worked out the major plot twist pretty much straight away, but where on earth is Henry??” one wrote.
With many finishing the series with the same question: “Wait, no updates on Henry??!”

So, what happened to Henry?
Well, while it might not have been obvious to everyone, it was somewhat explained in the series – as it is in the book.
Dee Dee is speaking to her accomplice about how the murders are covered up and can’t be linked, as she goes through her list of sons: “One was shot in a robbery. One committed suicide. One is just missing, probably a runaway. One should be, I don't know, stabbed, maybe by a drug-addled homeless nut."
And in that case, it seems they have murdered Henry and covered it up by making it look like a ‘runaway’.
Murdered off-screen, Henry’s fate isn’t a particularly happy one and brings us right back to the title of the show.
