The reality of 'dunny duty' on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! has been revealed by a former contestant on the reality show.

I'm a Celeb is well and truly underway, with the likes of Aitch, Jack Osbourne, Alex Scott and Kelly Brook part of this year's star-studded line-up.

The range of big names up for completing some of the infamous Bushtucker trials won't disappoint, and with contestants already opening up with each other in the 'jungle', many viewers are finding out about several things, such as Ginge's streaming career or Ruby Wax's crazy past interviews.

However, while we're led to believe that the big names are roughing it out in the Australian wilderness, they're (literally) more sheltered than most viewers would think.

The celebs are in a camp with the bare minimum in all fairness, but it's said to be a 'fake' jungle with a roof over it, located in the Springbrook National Park in New South Wales, close to the Queensland border.

While many may feel betrayed, the fact is that torrential rain is a possibility, even in Australia's summer season, so the cover is to shield the campmates and vital recording equipment, which is sort of needed for us to be able to watch the show in the UK.

The iconic lowering of food is also done from the roof after campmates have won meals through their trials - but what about some of the more grim details of the campsite?

Roman Kemp's rockstar dad, Martin, is a contestant on this season's edition of the show, but the radio host was also a contestant himself back in 2019, finishing in third place.

Speaking about his 22-day ordeal on the ITV reality show, Roman revealed how gross 'dunny duty' was on BBC podcast You About? hosted by musician Tom Grennan.

He opened up about how gross it was to clean the toilets, a task which contestants had to do.

Roman said that Cliff Parisi, best known for his role as Minty on EastEnders, did the 'classic thing' which people mistakenly do, by 'obliterating' the hotel buffet the day before entering camp - a recipe for disaster.

He said that the loo itself is like a festival toilet, recalling that Parisi made it known that he had 'obliterated' the toilet on the day Roman was responsible for cleaning it.

Recalling the experience, the BBC radio host admitted: "When I was carrying it out to empty it after Cliff had been, I thought there was a person in it."

The toilet itself is as simple as you'd expect, a seat in a semi-closed off area, along with some loo roll on the side and not much else, stationed in the middle of the jungle with nothing but a sheet between you and the outdoors.

Sounds...pleasant.
