Myha'la reveals strict rule for filming Industry's graphic first intimate scene after her engagement

The Industry star had a rule for filming the shockingly graphic intimate scene in the season four premiere

Myha’la has spoken out about a strict rule she had for filming the graphic Industry intimate scene in the season four premiere.

Industry is a TV show well known for not holding back when it comes to its intimate scenes and portrayal of its characters' debauched lifestyle.

The show, coined ‘Skins for adults’ by a viral social media post, has released the first episode of its newest season available to watch for free on BBC iPlayer in the UK and on HBO in the US.

Starring Myha’la as Harper Stern, the third season received universal plaudits and various end-of-year awards, and season four is being even more highly reviewed.

Sitting at 96 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes, The Guardian called it ‘twisted’ in their five-star review.

Myha’la revealed on Instagram on January 5 that she and her partner, Armando Rivera, had been secretly married, but at the time of filming season four, they were recently engaged.

Her character has sex with two different characters in the first episode of season four, with one scene being particularly graphic.

This involves her sleeping with Max Minghella’s new character, Whitney Halberstram, before (there’s no polite way of putting this) finding a strap-on in one of his boxes and pegging him.

Despite filming the fairly graphic scene with Minghella, though, there was something she wasn’t willing to do.

She was asked in a new interview with Glamour magazine if there was anything she had said no to in the show, with her character having been involved in threesomes, fairly graphic intimate scenes, and trying about every drug on the planet.

She said: “No, but I’m sure that’s coming. But it was really strange, the first time I had an intimacy scene after I got engaged, I didn’t want to kiss the person.

“I was absolutely getting my cheeks clapped, but I was like, ‘No kissing!”

Speaking about how she switches off from the character in her day-to-day life, Myha’la put it partly down to doing as much ‘normal’ stuff as she can whilst filming.

She added: “I go home after putting on a strap-on and pretend-f*cking a dude and I’m like, ‘Babe, I had such a great, hard day’.”

The season four premiere has led many to predict that Industry may become the next big show in the absence of recently concluded series such as Stranger Things and Succession.

With many pointing out that Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad took multiple seasons to pick up a core dedicated fanbase, the season four premiere sits at an impressive 8.4 on IMDb at the time of writing.

Myha’la is joined by a returning Marisa Abela, Ken Leung, and Kit Harington in season four, with Stranger Things star Charlie Heaton joining the cast along with Max Minghella, Kal Penn, and Kiernan Shipka.

Industry season four’s premiere is available to stream on BBC iPlayer in the UK and on HBO in the US.
