Some fans have already made their minds up on Top Boy's last ever season - and it's not looking good.

Long gone are the days when TV networks would wait for the critics' reviews to land in the papers.

Nowadays, we are all TV critics and our voices are louder than ever.

Yesterday (7 September), the long awaited Top Boy: The Final Chapter became available to stream on Netflix - and viewers have already binge-watched all six episodes of season three.

Before we get stuck in, it's important to remember that while the new season is being labelled as season three by Netflix, there has actually been five seasons of Toy Boy.

The first two seasons of Top Boy launched on Channel 4 first, while a further two series series came later on Netflix.

For those who are yet to watch Toy Boy, the show delves deep into the dangerous world of drug dealing and the lives of those who live in the fictional East London estate of Summerhouse.

"Sully’s actions at the end of the last series have rewritten his business rules with Dushane," reads an official synopsis for the latest and last season.

"As new shared problems arise, everything they've built comes under threat from forces outside and within their empire.

"Can they coexist by the rules of the road they’ve lived by their whole lives in a world that is changing before them? Or can there only be one TOP BOY?"

The cast includes Ashley Walters (Dushane Hill), Kane Robinson (Gerard 'Sully' Sullivan), Simbiatu Ajikawo AKA ‘Little Simz’ (Shelley), Jasmine Jobson (Jacqueline 'Jaq' Lawrence) and Araloyin Oshunremi (Stefan Tovell).

So, it seems that the creators of the series opted for the most brutal ending ever.

Before the credits rolled on the final episode, both Robinson's character Sully and Walters' Dushane were killed off and murdered.

Dushane was gunned down by former friend Sully, who was shot dead by an unknown person while he was sitting in his car.

Viewers were left stunned by the final scenes and took to social media to share their thoughts.

One person wrote: "I don't know what kind of ending that was for Top Boy but they all need to go back and rewrite and reshoot the whole of season 3."

A second added: "Just finished the news series of Top Boy and I'm disappointed, wasn’t as good as the last season and the ending just annoyed me."

While another angry user said: "WHAT WAS THAT ENDING IN TOP BOY somebody needs to quit their writing career EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY."

And a fourth penned: "Top Boy season 5 was a HUGE trainwreck, what the hell was that ending?"

One user even described the ending as a 'trainwreck'.
Netflix

Sadly, this is the end of the road for Top Boy as Walters recently revealed neither he nor Robinson wanted to carry on.

"[Netflix] wanted to go on forever! And Kane and I were like, 'personally, we can't'," he told GQ.

"We don't think it's the right thing to do. It may have gone on too long anyway.

"Not that it's not been great and the seasons have all been great and everyone's loved them and I've loved them.

"I like to end on a high."

Well that kind of makes sense now.
