Though it’s usually true crime documentaries that are terrifying people on Netflix, viewers have urged others not to watch the streaming giant's new drama alone.

It's after they binged watched new series Witness Number 3, with the four-part thriller keeping fans on the edge of their seats.

Originally airing on Channel 5 last year, the nail-biting murder mystery has gone on to have a second life on the streaming app.

If you’ve not watched the crime drama, here is a quick synopsis.

The series centres on single mum Jodie (Nina Toussaint-White) whose life changes after seeing a killer and his victim together moments before a murder.

Although her identity is kept anonymous, it becomes clear that those responsible will stop at nothing to keep her silent.

Not only does a gang terrorise the hairdresser, but she also receives threatening messages and has her salon destroyed in the lead-up to the highly anticipated court case.

Eager to protect her young son, Jodie’s paranoia begins to build, and as she prepares to stand as Witness Number 3, the tense thriller asks how far you would go to do the right thing.

If that hasn’t made you want to binge-watch the boxset, you should read the reviews by Netflix viewers who have told others not to watch the terrifying series alone.

It’s pretty understandable given that the show is a gritty mix of psychological thriller, horror, and crime drama in easily binge-able 45 min episodes.

Taking to X (Twitter), one user even begged others to not watch it solo, saying: “If you’re watching witness number 3 on Netflix do NOT watch it alone like I have.”

However, others clearly didn’t heed the user’s warning with one brave soul staying up to watch the crime drama as the night drew in.

Posted around 3.00am, the tweet read: “Wide awake at this time … watching witness number 3 on Netflix wasn’t the best idea.”

Meanwhile, a third gushed about how ‘hooked’ they were on the series.

They wrote: “Witness number 3 got watched back to back, had me hooked from the start.”

Another joked that ‘…witness number 3 is absolutely NO good for my stress levels’, with a user adding: “Everyone needs to watch Witness Number 3 on Netflix”

Considering that the show is currently listed among the top five TV shows on the platform, we’d say you’ll be in pretty good company if you do tune in.
