Netflix viewers urge people to see ‘must watch’ series that they've cancelled weekend plans for

Based on a best-selling book, one viewer says they've already watched the BBC series 'six times'

Let’s be honest, it can be really f**king hard to keep up with the new releases on Netflix so sometimes we end up missing out on some bangers.

So, while fans have been in stitches at a naughty new film that’s ‘not for prudes’ and others are ‘deeply disturbed’ by a true crime documentary, there’s people cancelling their weekend plans for a ‘must watch’ series.

Yep, viewers are apparently abandoning going down the pub with their mates as they urge others to stream a BBC show that recently landed on Netflix.

A six-parter, the TV series is based on a bestselling book that sees a teen investigating the murder-suicide of a fellow schoolgirl five years after her death.

Featuring Mathew Baynton, Anna Maxwell Martin and Emma Myers, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder originally dropped on the BBC back in July before being released on Netflix on Thursday (1 August).

The Wednesday star plays Pip Fitz-Amobi as she takes it upon herself to investigate the murder as she reckons there’s more to the story than people seem to think.

“I’m thrilled about this show, and getting to be Pip has been a dream,” Myers told Netflix’s Tudum. “Whether you’ve read the book or not, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is an experience all around. I think people are really going to like it.”

The series has a decent 81 percent average on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer along with a 70 percent audience score.

And one viewer can’t get enough of it, as they wrote: “This lived up to, if not, surpassed my expectations. It hasn't even been out for a week and I've already watched the series through six times. I highly recommend this series, it is the perfect Mystery/Thriller to watch if you've got a spare weekend.”

While another raved: “I FRICKING loved this. It wasn’t the exact same as the books but personally I didn’t really mind that, it was still very interesting.

"THIS IS A MUST WATCH SHOW!!! Seriously. Also lots of squealing (watch till the end TRUSTTTT!).”

However, some did say: “Emma Myers gives an outstanding perfomance, absolutely great. Unfortunately the rest of the cast is far away from this level and average at best. The light murder mystery touch sadly makes way for a dark, traumatic turn in the second half. The kind where the dog does die.”

As someone else echoed: “Goes a little too young adult in the final episodes but is mostly well executed.”

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is available to stream on Netflix and BBC iPlayer.
