The creator of a show with over 1,100 episodes has taken the bizarre move to hide the secret to the entire show which has been teased since 1999 in a capsule at the bottom of the ocean, with fans worrying that the whole series may be spoiled by crazy superfans.
One Piece might not be a show that is well known to the majority of western TV viewers, but the animated series has run for more episodes than even Dr Who.
With Netflix having turned the beloved anime into a hit live-action show, interest in One Piece is probably at an all time high.
After almost 30 years of the show running its creator Eiichiro Oda has promised that the ending will come in the next few years, with one of the major mysteries from the show being what the ‘One Piece’ actually is. If you want to find out early though, you’re going to need to start packing on your scuba gear.
Oda travelled out to the middle of the ocean and put the secret to the entire show in a capsule on the sea floor
The show’s creator has been so secretive with the information of what the ‘One Piece’ is that this marks the first time he has ever even written it down on a piece of paper.

The show’s 21 seasons follow a group of pirates travelling the seas looking for a legendary treasure known only as the ‘One Piece’, though in a recently released viral video Oda claims it has been decided since the very beginning.

In the video he places the answer in a capsule and a narrator says: “Until the whole story is revealed the truth will rest far beyond anyone’s reach, at the bottom of the ocean”.
It is dropped roughly 600 metres down on the ocean floor in an undisclosed location, but many worry that Oda and the studio behind One Piece have massively underestimated fans.
The location of the capsule has already been ‘figured out’
Fans on Reddit have already used several clues to estimate exactly where the capsule is.
The capsule was deposited at 600 metres depth with sediment that wasn’t disturbed often, no land is visible in the drop-off point looking southwest, and the coast guard shown in the video appear to be Japanese due to the colours of the boat.
With these combined clues fans believe it was deposited in Suruga Bay, Shizuoka as it fits into all the clues found and is close to Toyko, where Oda lives.
Incredibly though the super fan who figured this out on a One Piece spoiler subreddit less than 24 hours after it was announced ended their post by saying: “If we find the One Piece, I vote we destroy. Just Like in Stampede.”

This references a One Piece film where the lead character Luffy finds a relic that can direct them to the One Piece, destroying it as they would ‘miss out on adventures.’
Some fans are less concerned though, with one on X saying: “Even IF this is accurate, it's like saying ‘ok, we've narrowed it down to Ohio. Now, find the suitcase.’ It took 70 years to find the Titanic, and it was considerably larger than this. I'm not worried.”
Others were worried that this might be revealed by an influencer, but here’s hoping 30 years of TV isn’t spoiled by a Mr Beast video.
