A woman whose fiancée admitted to murdering a cyclist is the focus of a new true crime documentary, and she has revealed that she continued to date him even after secretly reporting him for the murder.
Should I Marry A Murderer? is Netflix’s newest true crime doc and was released today, 29 April.
Dr Caroline Muirhead is the focus of the documentary, along with her fiancée and convicted murderer Alexander ‘Sandy’ McKellar.
McKellar struck and killed cyclist Tony Parsons whilst drink driving in 2017, with his twin brother Robert helping to bury the body and cover up his crime.

Caroline met McKellar on Tinder a few years later and led police to the shallow grave Tony was buried in.

In Should I Marry a Murder? Caroline speaks out about the moment that McKellar admitted to the murder, and the horrifying realisation she made.
Caroline’s fiancée stated that she ‘jogged past him everyday’ when he revealed where he buried the body
The couple began discussing marriage just a month into their relationship, and soon after she asked if there was anything she should know about which may affect their future.
He then admitted to the killing and even told her where he hid the body.
Recounting the story in the Netflix doc, Caroline said he told her: “He’s on the estate, you jog past him every day. He’s right beneath your feet when you shoot your clay pigeons.”
This was not the only concerning realisation she made after the reveal.
Speaking in the doc, she also admits that it made her worry that he dated her in part due to her professional career. The Scottish woman is a forensic pathologist, a medically trained doctor who specialises in autopsies and determining the cause of death in suspicious or violent crimes.
Caroline alerted police to the site of the body using a Red Bull can
She eventually managed to convince her fiancée to take her to the site of the burial, and in the process discretely dropped a Red Bull can.
Caroline called the police and told them about the remote estate the body was buried and the red bull can they could use to find the exact spot.
She didn’t go to the police right away however, and explained why in the doc. She said: “My brain wasn’t in a position yet to go to the police. My brain was still not really accepting what I’d been told.

“The underlying sense of panic was so massive that I couldn’t address it at that moment. My brain just stuck itself in the middle, refusing to let either of those thoughts come in.”
After contacting the police though she ended up becoming an undercover informant, continuing to feed them information whilst dating McKellar.
McKellar ended up being convicted of culpable homicide and attempting to pervert the course of justice in 2023, receiving a sentence of 12 years in prison.
His brother was sentenced to five years in prison for his part in covering up the murder.
