‘Disturbing’ dark thriller series starring Gillian Anderson hailed as a ‘work of art’

Viewers are raving about another crime series to help you get past the January blues, and it's being hailed a 'work of art'.

Starring Gillian Anderson, Jamie Dornan, Emmett J. Scanlan (From Kin and Fool Me Once) and John Lynch is the a three-season crime-fest set in the mean streets of Northern Ireland.

The series, which aired from 2013 to 2016, follows Metropolitan Police Superintendent Stella Gibson (Anderson), a senior investigating officer who takes a look at the progress of a murder investigation in Belfast that's been active for more than 28 days.

With the serial killer - dubbed the Belfast Strangler - still on the loose, local detectives must work with Stella to find and capture Paul Spector (Dornan), who is attacking and killing innocent young women in the city.

While attempting to build a case, the team are met with complications inside the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI).

The first series premiered in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland on RTÉ One in 2013, and Brits were able to watch it on BBC Two.

Now that all three series and their 17 episodes are available on iPlayer and Netflix, viewers have been raving about the way Anderson and Dornan took on their roles.

This comes after BBC's announcement of the second series of another fan-favourite crime drama - with a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score.

Game of Thrones' Aidan Gillen and Ciarán Hinds star as rival gang members in the Irish crime series, co-created by Peter McKenna and Ciaran Donnelly.

The show follows the fictional Kinsellas crime family in Dublin, Ireland, who are increasingly at odds with a powerful drug cartel.

All hell breaks loose when the hotheaded son of Frank Kinsella (Gillen) gets into a violent confrontation with one of Eamon's (Hinds) men, as the Cunninghams retaliate.

Viewers will be delighted to learn that the second series of a fan-favourite crime drama - with a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score - is coming to the BBC.

The impressive cast also includes Clare Dunne, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Emmett J. Scanlan, and Sam Keeley.

Titled Kin, the series - which first broadcast on AMC in 2021 - has been available on BBC iPlayer and Brits have been enjoying the full eight episodes of season one, which has a 100 percent Rotten Tomatoes score.

Viewers will for sure be pleased with the BBC's recent confirmation that the second series of Kin will launch soon on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
