The Simpsons' writers have earned a reputation over the years for their impressive predictions, although the latest one from creator Matt Groening might be the most controversial yet.
While Baba Vanga and the Living Nostradamus might be the big names in the world of terrifying predictions, even they can't compare to The Simpsons, which has called some pretty ridiculous things during its span of 38 years and 36 seasons.
Lady Gaga's Super Bowl halftime show, coronavirus and the horse meat scandal are just a few things associated with the animated American sitcom but perhaps its biggest correct call was seeing Donald Trump become one of the most powerful men on the planet.
It's something nobody would have predicted back in 2000, when the episode depicting him as president was first shown.

Although there have long been rumours about when the show might stop running, Groening recently suggested that only a main character's death would spell the end, with Marge's future death in a recent episode presumably not counted.

Speaking at the San Diego Comic Con panel, Groening said: "I honestly thought [Season] 36 would be where we'd end it, but no, there's no end in sight. We're going to keep going until somebody dies."
He then made a comment seemingly about the current US president, according to the Irish Star: "When you know who dies, The Simpsons predicts there will be dancing in the streets. Until President Vance bans dancing in the streets."
The popular comedy series has already seemingly predicted Trump's plans for a giant dome, as fans of the movie will know, while it also made reference to the storming of the capital.

Some parts of the internet were recently convinced the show had somehow managed to foretell the recent Coldplay CEO drama until that was debunked.

While the White House, and indeed many Americans, might not be too happy with Groening's comments, they are at least more subtle than South Park's approach, after the most recent season of the show depicted Trump in bed with Satan.
The 79-year-old was shown to have a particularly small set of crown jewels, and the president's official residency weren't impressed, even if they didn't address that in their official comment.
A spokesperson said: “This show hasn’t been relevant for over 20 years and is hanging on by a thread with uninspired ideas in a desperate attempt for attention.

“President Trump has delivered on more promises in just six months than any other president in our country’s history – and no fourth-rate show can derail President Trump’s hot streak.”
