The Simpsons fans convinced show predicted US 2024 election map with uncanny accuracy 20 years ago

Although that same episode predicted a female president for the United States...

The Simpsons fans are convinced the show predicted the US 2024 election map with uncanny accuracy 20 years ago.

Yep, they reckon the cartoon has done it again – even though it’s the same episode people said predicted a Kamala Harris-like character would be president.

And that’s clearly not the case, as Donald Trump has just been projected as the winner of the 2024 US election, having declared victory himself earlier.

Over the years, fans have been baffled by The Simpsons somehow forecasting things like the Hawk Tuah girl, a major music collab and the UK’s cost of living crisis.

Back in 2000, the season 11 episode ‘Bart to the Future’ aired and has been heavily cited ever since.

Eerily, it referenced Trump’s rise to power and eventual term as the 45th US president from 2017 to 2021.

The episode sees Lisa Simpson succeed him in office as she says: "We’ve inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump."

That all happens with the sister wearing a striking purple suit, particularly similar to what Harris had on when she became vice president in 2021.

But with it looking like a loss for the Democrat today, a user took to X to share a snap of her alongside Lisa writing: “This is the first time The Simpsons were wrong.”

Although, the show did make another odd forecast as a TV president is stood in front of one of those digital, colour coded maps of the US to show which states had been declared in favour of the woman compared to those of her running mate, some unnamed man.

“WTF SIMPSONS ARE FROM THE FUTURE THEY GOT LITERALLY THE EXACT MAP FROM THIS ELECTION,” one user wrote on X.

And it appears their right, despite The Simpsons’ map showing Lisa to have the most votes, the actual map itself was almost identical to what’s been shown to have been declared by the Democrats and Republicans.

“The Simpsons predict US 2024 election map with eerie accuracy!” another user said.

Others pointed it out too: “The Simpsons just casually predicted the exact election voting map.”

Another echoed: “Nahhhh The Simpsons are crazy, look at the map similarities , and the difference. It’s over for the USA.”

Back in 2016, Dan Greaney who was credited with writing the ‘Bart to the Future’ episode said the joke had been intended as ‘a warning to America’.
