Fans are convinced The Simpsons has predicted the outcome of the US presidential election with a clip from 20 years ago

While many think the US Presidential Election is currently too close to call, The Simpsons might have other ideas

The Simpsons might be loved for its long-running jokes and iconic characters, but it’s also pretty well-known for supposedly predicting the future.

Some fans even think it predicted the Hawk Tuah girl earlier this year, as well as the likes of the UK’s cost of living crisis and a major music collaboration.

And now people are convinced The Simpsons has predicted the outcome of the US presidential election with an over 20-year-old clip.

Yep, this Tuesday (5 November), the 60th quadrennial election takes place as the race tightens between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

But there’s already a winner if this cartoon is anything to go off.

Airing in 2000, the season 11 episode, titled ‘Bart to the Future’, has been heavily cited in the past, referencing Trump's rise to power and eventual term as the 45th US president from 2017 to 2021.

However, the main focus in this case is something Lisa wears.

The episode sees Lisa donning a purple suit as she is elected as President in the future, following a disastrous term with Trump in the position.

As the president, Lisa states: "As you know, we’ve inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump."

And while this is happening, she wears a striking purple suit – very similar to that of Harris when Joe Biden was inaugurated as the 46th President in January 2021.

Becoming vice president at the time, she was kitted out in purple almost exactly like Lisa.

Unable to ignore it, users wrote on social media: “We all know that The Simpsons has this uncanny ability to predict the future.

"In an episode, Lisa becomes president and she mainly wears purple suit and pearls, similar to Kamala Harris's outfit in her vice president inauguration. Coincidence? I THINK NOT.”

And plenty agree: “The Simpsons predict Kamala Harris will be President.”

Another speculated: "Remember when Lisa was President of The United States on The Simpsons? Was that Kamala Harris?"

"Not for nothing but The Simpsons already predicted this...." one said.

And another confidently shared: "The Simpsons has done it again! Here's from the 17th episode of the 11th season (in the year 2000) showing Lisa Simpson as the first female president of the United States talking about how the country is broke after President Trump. And, here's Kamala wearing the same outfit at Biden's inauguration."
