Contestant reveals why Traitors can’t ‘throw contestants under the bus’ with parting speech anymore

This comes after the season one finale in which Kieran threw Wilf under the bus

A contestant from The Traitors has revealed the reason why Traitors aren’t able to ‘throw contestants under the bus’ with their parting speech anymore.

Celebrity Traitors has been a massive success for the BBC, with the last episode earning over 7,000,000 live viewers and more than 11,700,000 in total.

This has seen a renewed interest in the BBC show, with various former contestants on the show speaking out about tactics the celebs could implement to try and win.

One of the many contestants from The Traitors to speak out in the wake of the celeb spin-off is Dr Kas, the beloved doctor from season three of the show.

Though Kas’ time was short lived on the TV show he was forever immortalised in The Traitors lore when he suggested he was being compared to Harold Shipman when contestants said that his job as a doctor would make him choice to be a good traitor.

Kas last week held a Reddit ‘ask me anything’ in which he answered a number of questions about how The Traitors actually works.

In this, he spoke in part about the rules that are in place even when the cameras are off, noting that they are not allowed to speak to one another when they head back to their hotels and cameras are off.

One comment however will pique the interest of fans who have been The Traitors fans since its very first season on BBC One.

One of the most iconic moments of the show featured Kieran, one of the traitors, betraying fellow traitor Wilf by calling his vote for him ‘a parting gift’ in the final roundtable shortly before being executed and revealed as a traitor.

Following this the rest of the faithful proceeded to vote Wilf out, something that many fans theorise wouldn’t have happened if Kieran had not, essentially, cheated to get back at his fellow traitor who had convinced the others to vote him out.

This led one fan to ask Kas: “What sort of rules are there with regards to doing what Kieran did in UkS1 (when he got executed but threw Wilf under the bus in his parting speech).

“How do they prevent contestants from just ruining the game when they get voted out?”

Kas, whilst not a Traitor, was able to give an insider’s perspective and said: “Hi, great q! Loads of rules. The rule book was dead strict, especially for the traitor role.

“What you could and couldn't say about the others was really important and anything that could ruin gameplay was a big no no.

“Not sure how much of that was from the parting gift, but I imagine a lot of rules stemmed from that!”

Celebrity Traitors returns on BBC One tonight, October 22nd, at 9pm.
