One of the adult virgins to appear on Virgin Island has revealed why she still hasn’t had sex more than a year on from appearing on the Channel 4 show.
The series concluded with its final episode yesterday, May 27, with only one of the adult virgins being deemed to be ready to lose their virginity by the retreat’s experts.
Dave, a 27-year-old accountant, ended up sleeping with relationship surrogate Kat, with the sex therapist saying she felt ‘good about being the person with him at that important moment’.

While some of the other participants on the show have since lost their virginity thanks to the confidence they found filming the reality TV series, several of the 12 adult virgins remain virgins today.
One of the most popular personalities on the show was 23-year-old Emma, whose emotional admissions formed some of the most memorable moments of the TV show that don’t involve having to hide behind the sofa.

She spoke during the series about the effects bullying had on her from when she was younger, as well as vulnerably discussing body image and anxiety.
Emma progressed hugely during the series however, developing a bond with Viraj, who she went on a date with following the conclusion of the series.

Despite this though, she seemingly remains single and has confirmed in a profile with The Sun that she has not yet taken the plunge and had sex.
Speaking in the interview, she said that she gets people telling her she doesn’t look like a ‘stereotypical virgin’, recounting how she would at times get people calling her a ‘sl*g’ and ‘sl*t’ walking down the street.
She added: “It’s funny that people have a perception of women who are good looking and would expect us to all be a certain way.”
Emma sadly admitted that she had always thought to herself that she ‘looked like a dog’ and didn’t think anyone would want to be in a relationship with her.
She went on to add: “I feel like I would need to have a connection with someone to have good intimacy.

“If you have a one-night stand from a club, they expect you to know what you’re doing and have all the skills in the world - and they probably want you to act like a pornstar in the bedroom.
“All of that is a bit awkward to do when you are a virgin.”
In an article in which The Sun interviewed various different people on the show, she admitted that she was ‘not in the right mindset for a relationship’, however stated she had ‘explored intimacy’ with others.
Taylor, also on the show, has also revealed in an interview with Cosmopolitan that she also has not yet had sex.
Speaking about it, she said: “I still personally feel like I need a connection with someone before having sex.

“But I don't feel frightened of it anymore. I don't feel like it's something that I can't do. I know when the time will be right for me now.”
