Channel 4 have confirmed that Virgin Island is set to return for season two, and one of the first season’s most controversial figures has said he’s up to come back.

The series saw 12 adult virgins undertake a series of workshops and therapy from proponents of a radical form of sexual therapy known as somatic therapy.

This meant that some of the show’s expert therapists were willing to be physically intimate with them, and in some cases even have sex with them.

One virgin on the show, Dave, even lost his virginity to one of the show’s surrogate partners.

Whilst the show itself was incredibly controversial, with many criticising the hands-on method of the therapists, it was one of Channel 4’s most successful shows of the year.

In their renewal order for season two, Channel 4 confirmed Virgin Island received 1.4 million viewers per episode, making it the most successful show on their streaming service this year.

In addition to this, it was their top TV show overall for 16–34-year-olds.

A casting call went out for a new cohort of adult virgins earlier this month, hinting that a season two order was on the way.

Now, however, Channel 4 have confirmed that season two of the show is not only happening but that it will be ‘bigger and bolder’.

The second season is set to be eight episodes long, expanded from season one’s six episodes.

Speaking about the second season the show’s Commissioning Editor, Jonah Weston, said: “It's been such a thrill to watch this show catch fire.

“This is a live issue among young people, and from the brave cast to our wonderful experts I don't think I've ever worked on anything quite so bold, warm and well-intentioned. Watch out for season 2 which will be bigger and bolder than ever!”

One of season one’s most undeniably controversial participants was Zac, one of the initial 12 adult virgins.

Zac came into the show and from very early on was one of the more confident of the 12 – however this confidence ended up effecting his time on the island.

The show’s most talked about moment came when surrogate partner Kat ended one of their sessions early, telling him to put his clothes back on after the pair had stripped naked.

This came after his incredibly forward comments, something he later stated he regretted.

In an exclusive interview with LADbible, Zac said of the incident, which cause a large viewer backlash: “I'd definitely do it differently. One of my problems with intimacy is when things start to get more serious, I do shut down.”

He went on to call his comments ‘awful’.

Despite this, Zac revealed he was open to return for a potential season two in the interview, saying he would ‘love it’.

When asked about a possible season two and if he would return, Zac said: “I wish they would take me back! That would be brilliant.

“I really wanted more time there. I think there's so much more I could have done. But, you know, we only have the two weeks.

“It's a very limited amount of time to sort of work through all your troubles.

“I definitely would. I mean, if I saw even half the improvement I did last time, then I would absolutely do it again.”
