A YouTuber who went viral for posting about 'being ugly' has shared a significant update on his life.
The internet is rarely an honest place, thanks to filters, artificial intelligence and influencers who present themselves as perfect in every single way but Swedish man David Martinsson shared an emotional insight into his life back in 2018.
Unfortunately, his looks had seen him subject to years of bullying and abuse, and he decided that it was time to speak out about his experience. While he initially suggested that he hoped he could help just a few people, it's now been watched over 26 million times.
Perhaps the main reason behind the video's popularity is not just the heartbreaking honesty with which he speaks, but because it sparked a seemingly unlikely love story after a woman, Juli Romina, commented to suggest that he was cute.

One year later and Juli would become David's wife, in a modern day Romeo and Juliet story without the needlessly tragic ending in Shakespeare's version, with her first comment still pinned on his video after he changed his channel to a message of hope rather than despair.
And now, posting on Instagram, Juli has shared a heartwarming update on their lives together in Sweden, with the couple recently welcoming a child together, as they enjoyed a walk as a family in the snow.
Posting on TikTok earlier this week, Juli shared the video with the caption: “POV: Flirted too hard and now I’m carrying a stroller in the middle of the Swedish winter.
"I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world tho," she added.
It was the first time that fans have seen David's face on her account since 2024, and they were delighted to see him looking happy, showing that sometimes everything works out in the end.
“The man, the myth, the legend himself: David Martinsson,” one commented.
“THEY HAVE A KID NOW??????” another said.
“I’ve never been more happy for strangers online. I saw this meme when I was like 10 I’ll be 20 in November,” another viewer replied. “Still to this day the best love story to ever be known,” added another.
However, things aren't completely rosy for the couple, as David felt forced to launch a GoFundMe before the birth of his child, after his wife failed to get an EU card while she was pregnant.
He suggests on the page that they were facing huge financial issues and the prospect of living in poverty because of 'misinformation', while their plans to move to Argentina were also put on hold.
David now has over 400k subscribers on his YouTube channel and posts regular updates on their lives together, which will hopefully allow him to get the financial help he needs to provide for his fledgling family.
