Brits are ‘dying to get their hands on’ a rare Cadbury chocolate bar that has returned to the UK.

Originating from the other side of the world, the sweet treat was famously created in New Zealand, and is renowned for its divisive chewy banana filling.

In a surprise turn of events, the £1.25 treat has appeared on the shelves at bargain discount store B&M, as well as being available from Amazon, and customers ‘don’t want to miss out’.

Sharing the news to Facebook, B&M wrote: "Perky Nana is back by popular demand! Grab yours for just £1.25 - all the way from New Zealand! Indulge in this banana-flavoured chew bar, wrapped in luscious Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate. It's a must-try treat!"

On Facebook, social media users rushed to share their thoughts on the news. “Love them, I buy 10 at a time, chewy banana filling!” one wrote. “They always sell out though, hence why I get so much, I don’t like when people get greedy but other people are doing it, I'm not going to miss out.”

Another added: “Oh my!!! I need to try one of these!!!”

A third was excited by the news, and hopes for another popular Kiwi snack to come to UK shores next, “Ooh, yes - that's so good that they’re here now! Just need Whittaker’s now.”

But not everyone is on board. One social media user wasn't very impressed by the look of the bar and wrote, “Eeee looks minging. Banana-flavoured anything is vile.”

Another agreed, as they said: “Just the thought of this makes me gag."

Cadbury chocolate first arrived in New Zealand in 1881, but it wasn't until 1930 that New Zealand started to produce Dairy Milk. Known for its vibrant yellow centre, the Perky Nana is native to New Zealand and is a banana-flavoured chew bar smothered in Dairy Milk chocolate, but its unusual fruity flavour certainly isn't for everyone.

Where to buy a Perky Nana in the UK

If you're keen to give the choccy treat a go, then listen up. According to shoppers, it's hard to get your hands on a Perky Nana, as they're flying from the shelves at B&M.

But there's no need to panic, as we've found a bar that will keep your sweet tooth satisfied. At the time of writing this, you can bag the Perky Nana everyone is talking about on Amazon. A 42g bar comes in at £2.75 on the website and has gone down a treat with customers.

One five-star review reads: “Excellent gift for a nana who has everything. Amused me a lot, which is why it was purchased. Just wish they were cheaper!” If you're wanting to stock up, then you can also grab a four-pack over on eBay for £8.99.

Race you there.
