How to make Baby Guinness at home for Christmas Day

How to make Baby Guinness at home for Christmas Day

Contrary to some belief, there is no Guinness in Baby Guinness

Since Christmas is upon us it's time to be merry, jolly and all other manners of happy about the festive period.

For many people that involves tucking into delicious food, while others prefer to use this time to get creative with the drinks.

One of the more popular drinks people go for this time of year is the Baby Guinness, which doesn't actually contain any Guinness and is just called that because the shot looks like an adorable little version of the drink.

If you are going to be drinking around Christmas, please take care with your health and don't do yourself a mischief, as that would be ever so unpleasant at what's supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year.

Also make sure that the drinks you're cracking open are still safe to quaff, that bottle of Baileys you've had forever might not be quite as welcome a treat as it used to be.

Anyhow, onto how to make your very own Baby Guinness this Christmas.

This recipe is pretty simple and will soon have you making the little cocktail shots like they're going out of style.

According to Manu's Menu, she reckons the first step is finding a glass that will make your drink look good - so if you've got something in the shape of a pint glass but miniature then you're doing well.

Then it's a simple matter of mixing Baileys, which you'll surely be able to procure at this time of year, and the coffee liqueur Kahlua.

Make sure you get the mixture right, as to pull this one off the recommendation is to start by pouring in 60ml of Kahlua before adding 30ml of Baileys on top.

Remember, that's two parts Kahlua to one part Baileys and the Baileys goes in second to make the Baby Guinness have its iconic look.

Just remember, there's no actual Guinness in Baby Guinness.

See the trick is the Baileys will float on top of the coffee liqueur, making it appear as though it's the head of a pint of Guinness.

Another recipe for this stuff recommends pouring the Baileys over the back of a spoon, which surely brings some sort of advantage.

Just make sure your glass is wide enough to catch it instead of splattering everywhere and making a mess of the worktops.

Christmas may be a time for fun but at some point you'll have to clear everything up and that's one extra stain you can do without.
