Heart surgeon shares the four foods you should ‘absolutely avoid’ that will ‘actively poison’ your body

This is going to be a very hard ask with Christmas approaching...

The festive season is in full swing and temptation is all around, but one TikTok doctor is on call to remind us what we should be avoiding.

Yep, over the next few weeks, work parties and family gatherings will be kicking off, which means copious amounts of chocolate and cheese just begging to be enjoyed.

But whether we want to know or not, one health professional is on a mission to make us aware of what we are putting into our bodies.

TikToking cardiac surgeon Dr Jeremy London has put together a helpful video with the four different types of grub and tipples he reckons we should all be giving a miss this Christmas.

Naturally, like most things in life, all the stuff he said you should avoid is the stuff we all enjoy the most. Baa, humbug!

Fast food

"Most of what's available in fast food chains is 'edible food product', it's not even real food," the cardiac surgeon said.

Most people are aware by now that when you enter a fast food restaurant, you aren’t there for the health kick.

The clue is in the name, fast food, ideal for when you are looking for something quick and easy, but it's not exactly going to be part of a healthy and balanced diet.

Every once in a while is probably okay, but if it's a major part of your diet, then you might want to rethink.

Soft drinks

If you regularly frequent fast food restaurants, the thing you use to wash it down most of the time takes the second spot.

For the record, this applies to 'both diet and regular soft drinks', which Dr London described as 'liquid death'.

They are normally packed full of sugar, and if they're not, then they've got stuff in them which certain parts of the world have flagged a potential health warning over.

Milk products

With Christmas coming, many products such as chocolate, cheese and cakes contain lactose, which makes it a hard one to avoid, but the cardiac surgeon is not happy about it.

He said: "We are the only mammals that drink milk outside of infancy, and we drink it from a different species. Think about it."

Alcohol

No surprises here, there aren’t many things more dangerous than pumping your body full of actual poison, let alone one that impairs your decision-making capability.

But that doesn’t stop half of the country on any given occasion.

The doc said that alcohol was 'absolutely toxic to every cell in our bodies', warning that 'even moderate or occasional use' ends up being bad for you.

He told viewers to 'stop actively poisoning your body', but again, with the Christmas season coming... that's a tough thing to ask.
