Couple who moved to Australia from UK warn Brits about scary everyday reality that may put people off

More and more Brits are heading down under for a new life

A couple who abandoned the terrible weather in the UK for a brighter life in Australia have warned other Brits thinking of doing the same about the scary everyday reality they'll have to deal with.

Content creator couple, Teresa and Mike, have been living in Queensland, Australia, for the past seven months now, and it's easy to see why they've followed in the footsteps of so many Brits looking to escape to Down Under for a better quality of life.

Now, I don't want to be a Debbie Downer, but given that it's seemingly impossible to buy a house and everything costing more, you can perhaps understand why many young people are becoming disillusioned with life in the UK.

But while Teresa and Mike certainly enjoy their new life abroad, the couple also shared some of the scariest everyday realities that Brits would have to become accustomed to should they decide to make the move to Australia.

Speaking on their YouTube channel, the couple gave their first warning about how 'loud' the wildlife is here.

"It is very noisy, especially in the mornings. And in the evenings. The birds here are on another level. I don't know what it is, I don't know what they eat." Teresa said.

"It literally sounds like we're in the middle of a jungle. They sound like monkeys. We're in a pretty built-up area as well so I can't imagine what it's like in the bush.

"Obviously you hear birds in England but out here it's like they're shouting all the time."

If you're a modern day Snow White (no, not Rachel Zegler) who embraces all animals large and small, this might be the ideal situation for you but for those of you who like a lie-in, the idea of having birds screaming in the mornings isn't ideal.

The British couple also stress that you will see a lot of creatures - especially in the evenings - including frogs, spiders, cockroaches and potentially snakes, saying that 'as soon as the sun goes down, everything comes out'.

Red-bellied snakes, in particular, seem to shake the couple, as Teresa said they had been 'sighted' around where they were sitting, before throwing a cautious look over her shoulder.

Again, this sounds like some people's worst nightmare, but given the free barbecues and increased public holidays they have over in Australia, there had to be some downsides.

And Mike and Teresa aren't the only Brit living Down Under to issue some friendly advice to those thinking about making the move.

YouTuber Ross Johnston, who'd moved to the country in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic, detailed a few of his own tips based on his 'own mistakes'.
