If you're familiar with Netflix's Poop Cruise documentary, you'll know an 'engine failure' is the last thing you want to hear on board a ship.
So panic bells started ringing for holidaymaker Marcia McNaughton, who was just 45 minutes into her luxury Royal Caribbean cruise from Vancouver to Alaska when disaster struck.
The cruise ship left Canada Place on Sunday 6 July, but by the time it reached Bowen Island, the vessel was forced to turn back around.

"Omg!! Believe this!! Our cruise ship just broke down.. blew an engine.. turning around to Vancouver! You can't make this s**t up," Marcia ranted on X.
But while passengers were understandably a little bit frustrated with the situation, one X user was quick to point out the benefit of breaking down so close to home.
"Good thing you were close to home and not in the middle of the ocean," they wrote. "Could've had another poop filled cruise Netflix documentary."
For anyone unfamiliar with the gruesome story of the Poop Cruise, the documentary recounts the 2013 Carnival Triumph cruise ship, which suffered a total power outage as a result of a fire in the control room.

The ship was stranded with 4,000 passengers onboard in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico and staff were forced to ask guests to deposit their excrement into red plastic bags after the toilets packed in.
However, things took a turn for the worse when toilet matter started flowing up through the drains, earning the trip the title of 'Poop Cruise'.
Fortunately, Marcia assured Daily Hive that guests were being looked after while they remained docked at Canada Place for the foreseeable, and the toilets are still in working order.
"I actually think everybody’s pretty cool. Most have been hitting the bar," she told the publication.

"I mean, everybody’s frustrated for sure. Most people that we spoke to that are American are not happy because they’re far away from home. For us, we’re local, so it’s not the worst thing on the planet."
Marcia continued: "Everything’s 100 percent okay right now. If we end up on a poop cruise, will jump off this thing and swim home."
On Tuesday, 8 July, the cruise ship finally set sail, however Marcia was left disappointed to learn their trip to Sitka, Alaska, had been cancelled and they'll be visiting the city of Juneau instead. Here's to hoping for a smooth onwards journey.
