A cruise ship casino host has revealed how much he earns each month, as well as how he can save a significant amount of money.

YouTuber and Royal Caribbean crew member Chris Wong has worked on cruise ships since 2013, and it's safe to say that he's done pretty well for himself.

Chris has been open about his profession on his channel and has even shared his payslips online.

But despite earning a very tasty salary at Royal Caribbean, the content creator's 11th and final contract will be aboard the Allure of the Seas.

How much does a cruise ship casino host earn each month?

Chris started vlogging in 2019 and has now amassed over 110,000 subscribers on YouTube.

In a video posted on April 4 but filmed on February 3, the cruise worker revealed how much he'd earned in January.

In his video, he revealed that employees get paid in two week increments, meaning he received two separate payslips including $2,890.21 and $1,450.09 for the whole month of January.

"As an active Royal Caribbean crew member, when you come on board and sign on for your first day, you are given and what is created for you a salary at sea bank account," he explained, noting that 'for the entire month of January, I was paid $4,340.30 (£3,195.36)'.

"Every two weeks, my salary ends up in this US bank account, and I am free to do with it whatever I want." he continued. "I can put this card into an ATM, draw out the money. I can use this as a debit card and just go shopping.

"Spend it wherever I like, the restaurants, the shops, and this is where my money goes to."

How the size of the ship affects how much he gets paid

On pay variability, he said that the size of the ship and whereabouts you are travelling makes a big difference on your pay.

"Depending on which ship you're on, is actually going to be a big factor into how much money you are realistically going to make, whether it's a large ship a small ship, and depending where it is in the world, is also going to have a huge impact on this." Wong said.

"Our ships where you can potentially make the most money for crew members is our ships in the US when we do Caribbean season."

His biggest paycheck was working an 'assistant position', earning $5,000 (£3,681.03) in a one-month period.

How Chris is able to save money

Because he's living on the ship while he's working, his paycheck doesn't go towards his 'house payment, car payment, or anything like that'.

"I have managed to save so much money working for this company," Chris admitted. "Of course, I make money from my YouTube channel as well.

"So the two combined, my cruise ship salary, my YouTube ad revenue, the two combined, does make me a pretty healthy salary over the course of a year."

The content creator also told Royal Caribbean that he still hopes to continue travelling aboard cruise ships but as a passenger.
