Genius hack to beat airport 100ml liquid limit as new scanners are delayed

Yet another delay means one more year of dealing with liquid limits

There's nothing worse than heading to the airport for your trip abroad and seeing the long, snaking lines of security that are made all the longer by the monotonous 100ml liquid limit.

You've got to fit everything - we're talking toothpaste, shampoo, shower gels, sun cream, deodorant, aftershave and perfume - in to a tiny 20cm by 20cm bag.

It's not easy and many try and get away with it by using larger sandwich bags - much to their disappointment when they get to the front of the security queue and their stuff is sent to the 'to be checked' side.

This causes queue delays, with the typical time it takes to check your bag being up to 30 minutes depending on how many bags are in the line.

But there's a genius hack that you can do at pretty much every British airport when it comes to getting through with ease.

It also lets you take more than the limit allows, which is a game-changer if you're only taking cabin bags to save on the increasingly extortionate cost of putting a suitcase in the aircraft hold.

Then there's the weight you're saving in your bag, so it's win-win.

And with revolutionary new scanners at UK airports security checks being delayed until 2025, there's no better time to take advantage - although some airports are ahead of the curve and have already scrapped limits.

It all focuses around playing the system when it comes to duty free.

Sure, our eyes sparkle when we see the litres of Gordon's gin for around a tenner. But we're not on about the alcohol section.

Nope, instead let's head to Boots.

One TikTok user called Grace Brown showed off the hack on her profile.

Taking to the social media app, she posted a video of her order before then picking it up at the airport she was flying from.

It included sun cream, toothpaste, aftersun, deodorant, baby lotion, and Rennie tablets.

Posting the video, Grace wrote: "Here's a tip for budget travellers. If you're travelling with hand luggage only but you need more liquids, just order it from Boots and pick it up from the airport.

"That way you can take as much as you like."

Another user said: "This is one my favourite travel hacks, so when you're going away, particularly if you're taking hand luggage, we all know the restrictions on the little clear bags are a bit of a nightmare.

"So, what I do is, I go onto Boots online, and order everything I want about a week or two before, and I get it delivered – normally for the day before I fly, just so I know it's definitely there, I think they keep it up for up to two weeks – but when you order it, you just need to make sure it's on ‘air side after security’.

"So when you go through security, you go Boots, you pick it up, they'll put it in a little bag for you, and then you've got all your toiletries without paying the hyped airport prices."

We recommend you pre-order this well in advance of your actual flight.

One TikToker replied to Grace saying: "That's great but when I did this, Boots didn't have my order. As I sat on the airplane, I received my text saying I could now pick it up!"

Grace said she pre-ordered her goods around two weeks before she flew 'to be sure it would be there'.
