The entire of booking a holiday with absolutely no idea where you will end up is enough to give some anxiety-fuelled nightmares for days on end.

For others, it's a brilliant plunge in to the unknown.

But those taking to the skies on one of the latest mystery offerings have figured out a way to find out your destination hours before you land.

Wizz Air is the latest travel company to offer 'mystery trips' as part of a new campaign #LetsGetLostwithWIZZ.

The flight was set to depart from London Gatwick Airport last Thursday (7 March) for a four day trip to an unknown location.

The airline said it would be a 'jam-packed four-day itinerary of fun, including cultural, culinary and adventure activities'.

Those who took to the skies were give just a few days notice on the kind of clothing to pack; no one wants a big coat if you're heading to the beach after all.

One of the individuals on the plane, Ella Hewitt, took to TikTok to document her journey from airport to unknown destination.

And thanks to her mate, she knew exactly where she was travelling before she even embarked on the four hour and 20 minute flight.

In her video, Ella said she 'did not know where this plane was going' before going round her group of friends for their guesses.

One friend, called Ellie, said the Spanish city of Valencia, while Ella guessed Jordan.

Another two friends guessed Ibiza and Greece before one mate bizarrely said Stoke-on-Trent.

The video then cuts to the group of friends getting ready to board the aircraft, where one of them finds out for certain where the plane was off to.

Explaining that every plane has an aircraft registration, it works like a car number plate to individually identify them.

Then, using plane tracking app Flightradar24, the group found out the destination: Antalya in Turkey.

Upon finding this out Ella says: "I'd like to change my guess to Antalya, Having checked Flight radar, we're going to Turkey.

"Ellie figured this out, a round of applause for Ellie."

The flight did, of course, travel to Antalya. When it had landed in the city, another video from the flight shows the pilot announce the destination, saying: "We'd like to welcome you to... Antalya, Turkey."

Some were a bit conflicted by ruining the surprise.

One said: "The whole point is to be surprised; why are you looking it up?"

A second posted: "It's not even a mystery anymore."

Wizz Air is the latest to offer mystery trips, with one of the most popular being Wowcher.

Just last week, one UK couple paid £99 each for a holiday and got so much more than they could have imagined.
